That list is a joke. They should be embarrassed.

Without Dark Side of the Moon listed you automatically know their taste is all in their mouths. Give me a break.

At least they had the decency to include 'The Velvet Underground and Nico'.
But look at all those anthology albums. Elvis has a best album in the 90s and 00s.

For the most part the list is an abomination. HOWEVER- some I was hoping to see there made it. More suprisingly, there are a few that I never would have expected (from TIME) but ARE good:
Master of Puppets Metallica Endtroducing... DJ Shadow (not usually my type, but its good) Paranoid Black Sabbath Shocking omissions: 1990s -> Tool -> Aenima 1990s -> Smashing Pumpkins -> Siamese Dream 1980s -> Metallica -> And Justice for All. (if Puppets made it...) |

Oh dear!
"Best of...", "The Essential..." or "...Greatest Hits" shouldn't be included. If an artist can't put together a good album without resorting to the above, then forget 'em! I would think the whole of the 2000's need careful reconsideration. As for the 1980's here's three to start; Talking Heads - 'Stop Making Sense'? - what about 'Little Creatures'? Beastie Boys - 'Paul's Boutique'? - what about 'Licensed to Ill'? U2 - 'The Joshua Tree'? - better than 'The Unforgettable Fire'? Part of the problem seems to be, quote: "...a list of the greatest and most influential records ever..." I'm not sure that the greatest AND most influential necessarily go together. For example - Never Mind The Bollocks. Love or hate them, the Sex Pistols were a highly influential group in the evolution of music and 'The Bollocks' was an influential album, but that does not automatically make it a great does it? (Yes, I do own it but I still don't think it is a great - sorry) There are a few on the list that I agree with, but they seem to be in the minority. There is a lot of stuff that I am not very familiar with to say the least. But based on the ones I do, I have to regard the rest with a little doubt. Ultimately it's all down to individual preference I suppose. After all, if we all liked the same music, a lot of musicians would be out of work.

That list is a joke.
Let's see: In the "2000's" category, they list Hank Williams, Sam Cooke, Elvis Presley, and Muddy Waters. Is it just me, or did none of the aforementioned artists record an album in the "2000's?" Not to denegrate any of them, but reissues, "best of's" and compilations should not be included as new releases and compared with artists who actually recorded (and were alive) in that time period. Put any of them in their own time period, and they will win top honors, rightfully so. And no, I'm not saying that anything that has been released in the last six years is better (or worse) than Hank, Sam, Elvis, or Muddy. Actually, probably worse. Compare albums to albums, not compilations to compilations. ![]() |

Kind of a royal sampler. They got some right...pretty Beatles-heavy though. Some glaring errors:
Are You Experienced over Electric Ladyland A Love Supreme over Giant Steps Blue over Court and Spark (Or Hejira) No Mingus? Ahh Umm should have been on the list. No CSN&Y No Allman Brothers No Pretenders No Chicago No Clapton or Cream (WTF?!?) No Steely Dan (heathens!) |

They had a few on my 'desert island disc' folder.
Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus would be on it. Arranging by decade seemed unnecessary. Jim

it's not a top 100 of al time
it's a top list for each time, the title of that article is wrong in a top 100 of all time, there would be few modern albums in there... agreed on the Pixies.. some modern day gems missing where is Jamiroquai? Lamb? Depeche Mode?Edit Piaf?Kraftwerk? Jaques Brel?Serge Gainsbourg? the 2000's list is bloody 4 compilations vs 5 albums ! those are not albums , those are compilations ! sombody is high on crack over there @ Time
