I hear the same thing every winter, regardless of the temperature. I think that most people don't understand the concept of an "average" temperature. It is derrived by taking extremes into account.

So, rather than trying to rodeo me by changing the subject and attacking the messenger, explain to me how my statement is false.

CA & Local taxes, EPA specified formula mix (it's winter now) with extra ethanol, ethanol is still in short supply, CA taxes on corporations (The Gas Station owner, The refinery, etc).

Oh, and the price of oil is still fairly high, at $59 per barrel.

Regular is $2.00 per gallon here, and we have the same issues your do, except for the CA gas tax and the state corporate taxes. So, 0.17 per gallon in state gas tax and then 7.5% twice for Corporate taxes at 2 levels, should just about equal $0.50 per gallon.

The shortest answer would be that global climate change due to man-made events is now progressing at such an alarming rate that even the most ignorant of right-wing science debunkers has given up the their cause of trying to slander the science. The polar ice caps are melting at a rate much greater than even the worst projections of 5 years ago, for instance. It's nothing to joke about, unless you are truly a cretin, it is 1000 times bigger of a threat to anyone's way of life than the BS "war on terrorism" or all other issues combined. It will destroy the world economy, and at current rates you might even get to witness it in your lifetime.

There is exactly one major politician who understands and is not afraid to point out the severity of the threat, and that is Al Gore. Everyone else is a sniveling coward, pandering to voters who don't want to know, like you I presume.

Weird, in Brazil they use 100% ethanol because they don't have to worry about freezing. In the USA it's E-85 because it's 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline to help prevent cold weather starting problems.

Why is there more ethanol in the winter mix then?

Let me get this straight since I am new to the OT side of the board... The government kept oil prices down for the election? Is that a common thought here? So the guys in the secret black trading jackets with no firm name on them who were the HUGE futures sellers the last three months were from the government? Does this mean there is no such thing as a free market? Geez someone should tell all those guys at the NYMEX the markets rigged and tell them the 6 million dollar seat price is a farce and the new IPO they did today is going to crash when the word gets out the government rigged the markets.

Yea every commodities firm on the street and all the NYMEX seat holders have secret meetings to figure out how to screw the little guy. Especially becasue there are so many little guys in that futures market.
