Movie Car Carnage
After the Casino Royale thread mentioned the barbaric destruction of the DBS, I wondered what other movies scenes make you cringe?
I hate seeing the Miura, E-Types, and Aston Martin getting polished off in The Italian Job, and I know it's a replica, but the Ferrari in Ferris Buellers Day Off driving through the plate glass window always makes me go "Aaaargh!!" I'm sure there are plenty of others, but what are your personal worst?

No exotics were in the scene but the pile up at the beginning of Final Destination 2 makes me cringe. Particulary when the guy on the crotch rocket gets crushed by his own bike (Only laid mine down once, road rash hurts). Great scene though.

1st one that comes to mind is Bad Boys when they demolish the AC Cobra after the chase with the 965.
Also I remember in Commando Arnold is rather rough with a 911 (912) Targa. I'll think of more... |

BTW: The Miura they crashed in the original Italian job was no replica...
![]() Some of my favorite "personal worst" crashes in the movies: - The charger in Bullit - The 928 getting run over by the monster truck in the beginning of Cannonball Run II - The final destruction of "The Car" in the movie "The Car" - The final scene in "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" - The 356 hitting the fence in "Doc Hollywood" - The crash from the Steve McQueen movie "Le Mans" - Vanishing point's ending And yes, I have all of these flicks on DVD. -Z-man.

Vanishing Point - is that the one where James Taylor dead-pans as a street racer ($/pink slips) vs. Warren Oats brilliance as the pitiable owner of a Judge. (I don't think this is it - what's the name of that gem?) or... - some guy racing around for some reason in a Challenger (340-6 pak or 440?) and biting it into the blade of a D-9 at the end. (pretty sure that's the one - what's the basic plot here?) |

The Challenger, and I think the car they crashed into the D9 was switched just before the crash.

The car crashed in Vanishing Point was a Camaro. It was switched for the crash. That movie really used to bother me until I found out that the Challenger was unharmed.
Plot? It depends on how deeply you want to examine the move. On the surface, it's simply a movie about man and machine.

Don't forget Eddie's Speedster getting blown up in 48 hours (or was it the second movie?)

I think the record for most cars destroyed in a movie was The Blues Brothers.
It kills me whenever I see an old muscle car destroyed in any movie.

Gone in Sixty Seconds, when the GT500 got "the claw". Geezus I hope that was a model or a prop. . .
The opening scene where the Carrera gets driven through a storefront window didn't sit too well with me either, although it "somehow" escapes unscathed.

Hmm, lets see...
As for the "OH *****" moment, the Fast and the Furious, when Vin Diesel hits the Semi truck and flips after jumping the railroad tracks! Oh, and Vinman... Actually the movie that holds the record for the most cars demolished in a movie Is H.B. Halicki's Original "Gone in 60 Seconds" 93 cars destroyed in a 40 minute car chase scene!! I would have never watched the original movie until I found out that the Indy car I own is actually in the movie. When Parnelli Jones is walking through his shop, you can see my car on the right side of the screen being originally constructed before they raced it for the season. Just some little-known movie trivia ![]() -Nick
