Anytime you get millions of bucks into something, "creative displacement of reality" is going to take place. Pro Football, the Final Four and the Rose Bowl, the World Series, heck even the World Cup isn't completely run the way a true sport should be done - I'm not even certain you can find it in HS Football playoffs anymore.

Let us not loose sight of the obvious - it is entertainment nothing else. A show. A spectacle.

For the most part this is true. But don’t loose sight of the fact that for the participants (save wrestling or roller derby) they are either athletes / sportsmen, engineers, mechanics, business owners, etc. and, as a whole, very talented, dedicated and good - the best - and they work hard at what they do to stay there. It's the rules and organizers / "front office" that ultimately lead to these type discussions, and those people are also very good at what they do also. Track ownership and series ownership - that’s where the big money is.

I almost hate to say it - not so vague resemblence to government at every level.

A guy that knows told me, 35 years ago, if you want to make money in racing own a track - not a team.

maybe 35 years ago BUT now the real money goes to the very
top guy like burnie eckiestoned or the fraud [france] family who own the system [syndicut] and the tracks or lease them
and the few tracks not owned by the system may or maynot get to break even
I do know the city "owned" track at homestead is losing BIG TIME on their "DEAL" with nastycar/indy syndicut

I would love to see ''stock'' cars racing to see whos got the fastest car like nastycar was back in the old days
and when you could sorta buy the near same stock car at the dealer
and wish MB BMW audi/vw the japs and jag ect could race cars we could buy against domstic real V8 cars with modern teck
maybe then a rear drive V8 would be made and sold by ford and GM

Right

It has evolved in 35 years but those who knew then know now.

I was too vague -you missed my point but sort of got it.

It has been said before:

Motor racing is a great way to make a small fortune

out of a large one.

Hmmm, have you checked out the coaches being interviewed this year? The backdrops have the team logo interspersed with corporate sponsor logos.

Like pro wrestling I think most NASCAR fans know there is a lot of back stage manipulating going on and just watch for the show.

Despite the fact that it is staged most pro wrestler do end up with a long list of injuries and is analogues to the fact that running around a track nose to tail at two hundred plus MPH is certainly pretty dangerous and requires more that a little skill.

And I have tried to watch it but can't site through more than a few minutes either, but to each their own.

watch DTM if you want to see some proper racing

there is not Stacey Keibler in NASCAR and if there were one it wouldnt' work the way it works in WWF, so why bother watchign?
