Have you ever "caught air" in a large station wagon? I have. Dukes of Hazzard style. ;)

LOL. I can say I got airborn in a 76 Buick Estate Wagon. I was the first car I drove when I was 16 (moms) and had a 455ci in it that sounded mean with the air filter lid flipped! Beige with the fake wood paneling.

1986 Saab 900 4dr 8v n/a 5 spd. I was 15 and a half. Spent the next year getting it sorted with my father's invaluable help.

A 1977 Poop-Brown (metallic) Buick Regal, replete with 8-track player and "Landau" (vinyl *****) top. Formerly my uncle's car. He killed it (blown head gasket) and sold it to my dad for a buck to give to me. My dad (mechanical genius that he is) took the engine apart and couldn't re-assemble it, so I went to a junk yard to get a new engine (a 231cid V6) and put that in (which I did - learned by doing myself).

Caught fire in the driveway a few months later.

Second car was an equally-sucky 1977 6-cylinder Chevy Camaro with smashed-in rear quarter panel. Bought from a co-worker's sister for $550. Patched it up, drove the crap out of it and sold it to the town drug dealer for $1,600 cash (he thought it was cool lookin').

Took that money and bought a decent-looking 1978 Pontiac Formula Firebird. Not bad, but a 305 cid engine is useful for a boat anchor and that's about it - a 350 would have been FAR more mod-able. Eventually rusted out (New England).

Next car was a 1983 Ford Mustang GT - great car. Crashed it.

One after that was a Isuzu Impulse. Fun car, served me great through college. Sold to my brother, who promptly destroyed the transmission. I bought a Dodge Daytona with the money - good car. Lasted the rest of college plus a little more.

Eventually felt guilty about the Isuzu blowing up on my brother so my dad offered to give me his 1988 GMC 4x4 pickup (needing a clutch) if I gave my brother the Daytona. I accepted. My brother promptly destroyed the Dodge (damn him) and I paid to get the clutch on the truck fixed. Kept that one for almost 10 years. Moved to California where a large pickup truck is a VERY impractical vehicle (too big to parallel park in a lot of places, too tall to fit into a lot of parking garages without scraping the roof, too much $$$ on gas, etc.) Bought a motorcycle (see sig, still riding it) to be a better daily driver/traffic beater. Decided it might be nice to have a practical vehicle for cargo-hauling or occasional foul-weather days other than a humongous 4x4 truck so I bought my first 944 in 2002. Loved it. Will keep it until I die. Debated selling the truck but hemmed and hawed. Found a 951 for sale locally shortly thereafter. Sold the truck (finally) and got the 951. . . And so it goes. . .

1957 Chevy 2dr. Rolled it, putting a small dent in the top, bent a front fender and cracked the glass. It was truely a tank.

Mine was a mini 1000 bought for the less than impressive sum of £700, it was great, scared the crap out of a lot of my friends in it :D

'71 Mercury Capri.
Cool little car, but had a tendency to throw the lug nuts on the drivers side if they weren't properly torqued.
Totaled Christmas Eve 1975 when some drunk rear ended it while sitting at a red light.

I got pretty much dedicated use of a ~72 Opel Manta for my last couple of years in high school. Unfortunately it was the second of two Manta's that my family had. It was dark blue, it had a vinyl roof and an automatic transmission. Here's a picture of the first (and better) Manta that we had with the standard transmission and a way better color.

The first car that I bought was this ~74 Ford Fiesta right after college. It was just a basic model which I bought for just a few hundred dollars. It ran great, handled great, I could park it anywhere and it was an absolute blast to drive. Alas... it ran dry of oil. :(

The first new car that I bought was this '86 Ford Bronco to with a 5-sp manual and limited slip. I didn't care about the roll-over risk, with some helper springs in the back to stiffen it up and the LSD, it handled like a race car, just at much slower speeds. It got over 20 mpg, pulled my race car and could fit in parking spaces as well as the Fiesta. After about 10 years, the transmission started to tighten up and it wasn't worth the money to replace it. So it went to Charity.

My first race car? This Zink Z10. Sigh...

I wish I still had it, it would make a great basis for a DSR.

Here's my first Porsche and my first 911 parked next to each other.

'67 Chevy II Nova, 2-door, surf racks, and stains in the back seat.... Wish I still had that car..

64 Dodge Dart. Slant 6 and push button transmission. It was the family
car and mine to drive untill I could buy my own. When I was 17 I saved enough to buy a 70 VW Westy pop top camper. I miss em both. The Westy was great for surfing and the pull out bed was even better for many reasons.

I mowed lawns and detailed cars and bought it when I was 15.

48 packard, dragged it off the neighbors farm with our tractor, 25 bucks worth of experience was learned at 15, never drove it.

At 16, started working in a body shop, drove the parents ford wagon and mustangs that summer. Wanted to buy a 57 chevy, then a 69 GTO, dad said NO! $450 bought me a 65 plymouth Valiant Signet convertible , bucket seats and a 2Bl 273 V-8.....drop in a 4 bl 340, blow trans, replace, add slapstick console, shift kit, only burns one tire, replace with big posi unit, add gremlin front fenders to rear quarters to cover american racing wheels -G50 15's instead of 13", hood scoop, 6 point roll cage, no rear seat, snap driveshaft doing hole shots...race new 79-80 BMW 320i for 5 miles on rt66 in Ct, realize I have drum brakes., bmw has 4 discs and we are triple digits. Uhmm this is going no where and some where FAST! the upper control arms weaken, decide the end is near. Glad I sold it before it became my coffin. Should have left it stock. Shheeesh ..kids! Cant tell them.....
