I have the Nuvi 350. Works great, 35,000ft or in the middle of the ocean. Deal now at Outpost/Fry's, $450ish (I paid a lot more 6mos ago). Only comes with detailed North American maps and travel info.. you need to buy another card (not cheap) for Europe.

All of these units tell you land speed at very accurate numbers, right?

Yes, I've calibrated my '96 Bronco's electronic speedo with my GPS, when I installed larger diameter tires.

Most Garmin models from the 2610 and newer are very fast in their update of readouts, so I leave it on the speed page most of the time. When a turn is coming up, it switched automatically to the direction page, and then returns were I had it.

Denis,

As per my earlier post, they are as accurate as the GPS in the jet I fly for a living. Aircraft standards are the highest there are out there and the Garmin handhelds keep up with it.

One thing that really pisses me off is to take the GPS in various car's and it shows how off the wall the speedo's are. Not just one but almost every car I drive is worthless for showing your speed. Only one has been accurate and thats my 17 year old Honda Accord. Nuts on, maybe .5 mph off which is very good when compared to the majority of the new rental cars around or the others in my stable.

Someone's been taking GPS theirs in a jet it appears! I just reset mine memory on the SP3 recently. The max speed readout was 1406 and did not want (or need) a cop asking what in the hell I was doing. Is a nice feather though...

Yes, I had it with Nextel for a short while but to me it is like comparing a cell phone camera to even a nice point and shoot. I don't care for the quality of GPS service in a cell phone.

Just installed a Garmin C340, got at Circuit City black friday sale for $350. They sell used for $300 on ebay. The nuvi 360 looks to be about the same with a thin flat screen.

Interestingly enough I didn't want to wait in line at CC for the sale so I got online and noticed they were all out so I signed up for "send me and email when they are back in stock". Got an email the next day and they gave me the sale price.

No, but I have a 73 2.4S

I think the shirt pocket utility of the 350 makes it worth the extra $100, but just MHO.

Terrific thread. Thanks for opinions, everyone.

Just ordered a c330 from Walmart as the price dropped a bit today: $299.29 before shipping

Merry Christmas, all,

Garmin Street Pilot here and very, very happy. In fact many reviewers still use the 2600/2700 series as the the benchmark to compare all other GPS units.

I was less than happy with my IPAQ / HP Bluetooth GPS package. The thing would always lock up and HP was zero help.

The latest NUVI is next on my list. IMO, Garmin is the the best way to go.

I ordered a Garmin Streetpilot i5 yesterday. $250 w/ free shipping at Amazon. I've been looking for awhile, so I decided to pre-spend my gift money this year.

That's a great price! I sold my slightly used C330 on eBay a couple of weeks ago for $380. My Streetpilot 2610 has 3 years of heavy use on it, including duty mounted on the handlebars of the BMW Adventure. Had to send it in for repair once, and they sent me back a refurb unit for only $175. Great units.
