Smile Current project is 95% done.

We moved into our new house at the start of November, and I finally got the chance to have a garage at home to work on the car. Only problem was that someone in the past had converted it into a bedroom So, for the last month, I have been working against the clock and the weather - trying to get the garage close enough to ready to get the car in there before the snow comes. But here it is, my new play room close to completion, and now I can turn my attention back to the car

Very nice and in that part of the world you really need a nice garage! You did an excellent job!

Careful with the aluminum bench top, it is highly reactive to certain chemical spills, and any iron tools you lay on it.

I'd agree with you, the PO did that conversion to our house, so we're keeping it as another interior room and building a "super garage" at some point.

This is what it will look like when finished.

Having a garage separate from the house, if you can do that, is good from an odor and noise point of view.

Nice job Kroggers, its always nice to have a place to tuck your baby away.

I was amazed when I was looking at homes in North Carolina how many had car ports. While not the snowy north it gets ungly there and I wanted someplace cozy for the P-car to spend its summers out of the weather.

Procon was brought in to fix the problem with the house I bought. BTW- Everyone is more than impressed by how you "blended" the garage to the house making it look like it was always there, especailly after the pain was on.

Tucked away awaiting my next arrival to play.

Thank you all for the nice comments. It was an interesting project.. We managed to find out that the garage had been built in 76 based on the date on the newspaper they had used for insulation... But it has been fun! And now I can start to think about the car again. I will complete the garage next summer when I can take the car out and paint it all. Here are some more "interesting" things we found when we started to remove the internal walls.

Sweet! A buddy down the street has a tight garage. He put in a lift to be able to park one car above another. (the Porsche is on the top bunk)

You can't some of the time, and think, that's really a two car garage, the wide angle lens makes it look narrower.

In truth, that's the garage I left behind in California; and don't have one here yet. I do have the outline of the new garage on the ground though, just need some more trees removed by my logger neighbor, digging out of the top soil, and replacing that with red clay dirt of which I have plenty. The plan is 40' x 72', the dimensions recommended based on each wall being a number divisible by 8, US dimensional lumber of course.

The water line is on the same side of the drive way the garage will be built, the power is not so that will have to be dug in. I also want the air compressor to be outside the main room in a smaller weather resistant enclosure for noise abatement reasons, and I may add another room to place wood working equipment in since they generate so much dust. In the planning stages for next fall, spring of '08.

Earlier if the kitchen renovation is completed faster than expected.
