So what if I'm stupid for styling and speed

You, me and everyone else on earth. 160hp, 380 lbs. dry, 1/2 the maintenance cost of an '06, and cheaper list price. Plus a return to the beautiful styling of the 996/998.

They will sell everyone of them before they ever ship, and prices will remain above list like Ferrari prices, I predict. The one nice thing is that this bike will exert downward pressure on used Duc prices. Good for me.

And now for something completely different!

Not going to buy a bike anytime soon but this looks like more fun that a barrel full of lesbians...

Probably needs more of a rear fender to make it more streetable.

Denis, I hear you. I'm afraid I'll have to wait for a 2008 model after the hype dies down a bit and prices fail to MSRP. Otherwise a used one after buyer's remorse hits someone.

Joe, It's too late to rush into it this year, but I suspect it may be in the cards for 2007...otherwise I'm going to call the whole thing off and start living like an aging man whore. You can buy me one of these 1098's as a wedding present

As for the hooligan bike. Read the John Burns report on the Conf. HellCat in the Jan Cycle World. What a waste of $65K. As would be the holigan posted here.

I like some of the custom creations by a few builders, but most of the bikes are more show than go...poor execution. I'd rather buy a used 1000cc Japanese superbike, then strip it to barely street legal...then it'll be game on. No need to spend $65K+ to be in the hooligan catagory.

...but the 1098 OOOH so sexy! And performance to back it up!

They do look good. A buddy is placing his order & deposit for the tri-color Monday morning. I'll let y'all know how fast it is

Wait a second... has anyone figured out if it is dry clutch or not? An oil clutch will ruin this bike for me.

Yeah the bike I posted is kind of a joke... but am not likley to drop $60-$75K on a bike ever.

If I won the lotto I could buy several nice used cars for that kind of money.

So what is the MSRP (gulp) on that duc?

You haven't ridden that enough to know if you like it

You need to come out here, plenty of wide open space.

that could be said about the new Mercedes looking like a Honda or a Ferrari looking like Hyndai Tiburon, etc.. and since when was Honda building the single sided swingarm liter bikes?

I'll def get that bike in a year or two when they will become more available, in the mean time I got this super tricked out track machine

Yep...you gotta know if the egg came before the chicken or visa versa to really appreciate the 1098. Honda, Kawi and Yama..even BMW have all be chasing Ducati styling for longer than any of those companies want to admit

As for Kimi's bike, Curt..I like, but I like the creations (some of them) by the guys at Matte-Black too. A couple of examples

I agree.. I'm not a big fan of the new bike. The specs are great and if you're tracking the bike, who cares what it looks like. It should be a great performer on the track. But I just can't get past the Japanese styling. Anything after the 998 is downhill to me.

My feeling is the japanese borrowed the 916 styling cues and now we have Ducati going back to that 916 look. I very much liked the 916 look and this new one too. Sorta kills the Aprilia RSVR in heavyweight twins now
