I'll tell my wife she owns a shooting brake, and see what she says. :D

We'll have the back door welded shut.

Tim, you live in NW Ohio and probably have plenty of room for three cars! (I went to U Toledo for grad school and lived there for three years, so I'm familiar with the area.)

I now have a long narrow driveway and a one-car garage. The more cars I have, the harder it is to get to the 911!

Touche :D

I went to UT also (late '80s). Maybe we crossed paths at the Rocket Inn or at the Pig. :)

I'm all about the shooting brake, though I've never heard the term before. Here's my hot hatch

I agree that the Volvo P1800 ES was the best-looking- that and the BMW Z3 (?) Here are a few more...

crank up the 8 track, baby

Paint that sucker pale yellow and install some wire wheel knock offs and viola, my first car.

Station wagons come in handy in so many ways. ;)

 Uh..............no. That thing is for Batman and his half dozen Batkids.

However, I think I stand corrected about the P1800ES being the best looking station wagon hands down. That Aston Martin (I think?!) in deep blue is simply awesome....though it somehow sort of remind me of......the P1800ES!:D

P.S. I haven't seen it in person yet but the new Volvo C30 glass hatchback looks like it will be a VERY nice little car. At 260HP it ought to have some chops too. I hear the price will be about $23,000. If that's true and it looks as good as the pictures seem I may be looking at it for a fun commuter car.

I'm hoping they offer a higher-content C30 (to go against the A3) with heated seats and all wheel drive. It is a nice looking car.

Yeah, I am guessing the 260 HP model (which is a lot frankly) will get a higher performance model sibling with closer to 300HP and the kinds of additions you mention after the first or second year.

I am also thinking there will be a line for these things and there will be crazy "dealer added markup" - otherwise known as robbery! - for at least the first model year. I'll wait.

Porsche virgin 12-08-2006 09:11 AM

I agree. I think it is wise to wait at LEAST one year after a new model is introduced. There are always little problems to fix, and I'd rather not be the guinea pig.

My "Shooting Brake"...http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1165601552.jpg

Shooting Brakes are by definition three doors only...Aston called the Lagonda an 'Estate Car' as in to service one's estate...

The DB5 and DB6 Shooting Brakes were originally built for David Brown himself.. so he could carry his two dogs with him...

I think you'll find the new Volvo is a Ford Focus in drag...sorry chaps.. the 5 cylinder engine is the same as used in the Focus ST...all of which owe much to the original Auid 5 cylinder engine...as used in the ur quattro, S2 and RS2 cars.. the later running 315 hp as standard.....after Porsche had helped with the development..
