Domain name values

Does anyone know how to really find the value of a domain name? I don't mean exactly but ballpark.

My domain name is JackFrost.com I had an unsolicited offer back in 99 for about $10k for it. Is it worth more or less now? Some of the free on line crap stated a value of $100,000 to $125,000. This caught my attention.

Anyone who knows???

If so, best way to sell?

Check out register.com... enter in your website and you will see that it is taken, but they have a function there called "make offer" which Im assuming means that they contact the seller on behalf of the potential buyer....

Your Domain is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

As I recall, "Business.com" was one of the first domains to be sold from one person to the next....for about 3 Million bucks.

I had a domain name that sold for $4.5 million in 2000. Of course, I was barely paid anything for it when the "Big Crash" came down the next spring. I kept the name and still have it. I've learned since then that domain names really aren't worth anything. People will always find another creative name to use for their company. I own several domain names that I consider to be valuable, yet not once in 10 years has anyone contacted me for purchase! I would think a domain name like jackfrost.com might be worth $1k or so. IF you can find someone to buy it! Believe me, I wish it WAS worth $100k!!!

It depends on that words in the domain name, how many words, how many letters, how common the words are and the potential for mis-spelling. Part of the reason 3 letter domain names got snapped up so fast and why the big money maker porn sites have short names, IE sex.com. Another things that matters these days is Google PR; how well does your website place in a google search when key terms relating to are entered? It also depends on what it can be used for; would someone use the words in your domain name to help them search for a specific product, service or something of interest?

I don't know much about your specific domain, but I'd go out on a limb and say $100K is exponetially over-valued, unless you have awesome G/PR, get a TON of traffic, and make loads of $$$ off it.

I do know some places that debate/buy/sell/trade domains and full sites, but they are adult oriented.

domains that were active in the past and still have lots of good inbound links are the ones to have. Get several hundred of those, and run Adsense for Domains on it and make some money...

I have a good friend who frequently does domain registration work. $1200 is a very good price. A few hundred dollars is more common.

I had targa911S.com and Porsche sent me a letter saying were going to sue me. I had to give it to them.

The last one I sold was ArtScribe.com about a year ago, went for $500. I was happy to take it, paid $60 the year previous. They still haven't done anything with it.

I do get over 10,000 junk e mails per day. Thats worth something. I would give a thousand bucks to make it all stop.
