Counterfeit Leupold products

An alert in an industry journal says Leupold is receiving some in for warranty work. Were purchased primarily by internet, mostly Mark 4's (high end). They originate from our friends in the PRC. You can contact the company and verify the serial # should you have any doubts about the great deal you got. Jim

Yes, hunting scopes. Really sucks because, it would be difficult know you had a fake until you got it mounted and used it.

They are copying everything. Overseas now and went into a shopping area where they had knockoff's of almost anything you wanted. Quality is fair most of the time but on optics I go with the Germans everytime. Not worth taking a chance.

All my scopes are Leupold...my brand of choice for decades. I've found them to be fault free, very reliable. I guess it's the old saw, if a deal appears too good to be true, it usually is.

Have been in PRC a lot lately. I tell of a market where shoes were stacked to the ceiling. Nike knockoffs. Exact knockoffs. Logos exact, except that they ALSO had MIKE (pronounced mikey), BIKE (pronounced bikey), LIKE, DIKE, HIKE, and so on. Exact logos, except the first letter was changed. DVD players? Panasonic, Lanasonic, Tanasonic, Palasonic, Patasonic..... SONY, SUNY, SANY, it goes on and on. They look exactly alike. Last edited by fingpilot; 12-17-2006 at 06:44 PM..

A cheap scope cannot hope to match the brightness and clarity of a top of the line Leo', in any lighting, at any range. Just as a Leo cannot match a Zeiss, Schmitt and Bender, or Swarovski.

Yes lots of knock offs in the PRC, guess what, they will keep making them as long as there is demand. I have seen some of the various scopes in person and the optics like M21 stated are poor, you get what you pay for.
