That's great news, this story had been gaining "legs" in the National media for some time, which had quite a bit to do with William L. Anderson's persistence, beginning right after it became apparent to almost anyone willing to dig for it that no rape occured, and no other assault occured.
Nifong was reelected last month, so I don't know how this will play out, the wrongly accused should sue him personally since it equally obvious that he's guilty of malfeasance. and denial of rights under color of authority. Now, what about these "other charges"? Edit: Just learned that these innocent men are still charged with kidnapping and sexual assault, seems Nifong is still trying to get his pound of flesh. |

This is going to end poorly for Nifong, that's been obvious for some time now.
I'm not entirely sure Nifong is trying to get a pound of flesh anymore, I think his primary concern is finding a way to extricate himself from this mess. Dropping all of these false charges so close to his re-election might be seen as a bit too obvious. The strategy may be to do it in stages, to give the appearance they were only dropped as a result of continuing investigation and newly discovered facts. This whole thing has been outrageous, and a real abuse of power and violation of rights. Prosecutors have a lot of discretion and immunity, but I hope at the end of the day, someone goes after this Nifong character in court. |

Look at Massachussets. They've re-elected Ted Kennedy about a gillion times, and he drowned a girl and left her to die. Hell, look at Bush. You'd have a hard time finding 10 brother's that voted for him. |

He pinned his entire career/future on a stripper/hooker that now can't EVEN REMEMBER IF SHE WAS RAPED!
He is toast. |

Had he let the case drop prior to the election, he apparently almost certainly would have lost the election and been out of his job. Given the racial makeup of his voters, it would have been too easy for his opponent to paint him as someone who, like G. Bush, doesn't like black people and let some guilty-as-sin guys go because they were rich and white. |

Here's William L. Anderson's response to yesterday's news from the Duke non-rape case.

The kidnapping charge is also a non-starter. Both of these charges will be dropped in a month or so. Nifong will probably have to resign. What a POS he turned out to be.
