Man...
I think I smoked pot every single day of college from the first day of second semester freshmen year until the day I got a job offer in October of senior year. Haven't touched it since. I actually used to smoke it once a night just to fall asleep, but then quit when the risk outweighed the reward. I tried opium once and only once. I felt like a retard the next day. It was taking me ten minutes to get simple jokes. classes were way over my head. It was like my mind was stuck on "slow". Fortunately I felt better the next day and never touched the stuff again. I had way too many friends who fried their brains on LSD and cocaine to ever consider touching the stuff. I had one rule in college: never show up to class or work drunk and high; and never miss class or work because I'm drunk or high. I never broke the rule. |

Not everyone that got drunk in collage ended up in the gutter. I am not defending drug use but if we are going to make progress against drug abuse as a society we need to do away with the urban myths if we are going to move forward. |
I'm not talking about "dabbling" in coke and LSD. These people went from doing neither to doing large quantities of both, together, daily over several months. One girl had gone from pretty bright to so spacey normal conversation was impossible. One guy (who I thought was pretty bright too) blew his entire inheritance of $200,000 funding this whole drug fest in his first semester of college. He suddenly no longer had the grades nor the funds to continue attendance.

However my point being talking about people "frying their brain" Back in the fifties it was taught that smoking weed would turn you into a mindless zombie for the rest of your life... didn't exactly happen did it. Do you know what those two people are doing today? |
from my 2nd year of HS all the way until 2nd year of College I smoked weed 3x a day. I've tried Opium, as well as well as glass as a kid- luckily I never picked that up. I used to refrain from drinking (simply due to lack of availability) to the weekends, then I would knock down on the averge of a fifth every weekend.
When I hit 20, all of a sudden I simply didn't want to do it anymore. I quit weed straight out and haven't smoked in 17 years - it was killing my motivation and my grades and progress in life showed it. I simply drink these days and even now that's dwindling. What I've noticed is that those who continued have pretty much progressed into a full on obsession or "lifestyle" as it seems. One of my old smoking buddies, who we used to smoke in his bedroom as a kid still smokes several times daily - in the SAME bedroom he lived in as a kid. He's 37 now, and at graduation was voted "most likely to succeed". Quite sad. rjp |
True Story/Kids Today
Friend told me about his little cousin and friend that came to his condo to visit. They went out for a smoke. He thought hmmm... kinda young but thats OK. When they came back in he noticed his cousins friend slumped over with a wasted look on his face. he later found out the kid was huffing freon from the A/C outside with a baggie and a wrench. These kids were 14 and 15 years old.

Your tastes and needs change. Frankly, I detest druggies. As you go on, the odd behaviour becomes less acceptable and it flourishes into a full blown social handicap. I've seen it too much to be receptive to the concept.
I know of no successful druggies - the ones that have money are on borrowed time. I can honestly say that had it NOT been for the drugs growing up I'd have a financially easier life. rjp |
Never experimented. I knew what I was doing. ;)

The girl I still see from time-to-time. She's still spacey--still not quite there. She still lives with her parents and can't even hold down a job waitressing. |

I had a few shots with her. Always ended up backing out. Too much baggage, too many issues, not enough functioning gray matter. |
Just weed and "E"
Good thing I lived in a small town and couldnt get my hands on anything else at that point in time. |
