Joking aside, Jim is right. All the guys listed above, including Pat and others not mentioned are wonderful people to be around. We all spent a long weekend together in the mountains of NC with wives / girlfriends. I know by the constant smiles and laughter that everyone had a great time and felt they were mixing with quality people. Pat really is very laid back and cool. I really enjoyed his company and I never heard politics discussed. I agree with some of his views and not with others - but I look forward to and will enjoy seeing him and all the others at the next Dragon meet and I bet politics never come up in the conversations. Thank God we are all different. Speaking of Pat did anyone notice the thread where he posted the link to OldPictures.com? Cool site and non political. I spent 3 hours there after reading his post. Idea - come to the Dragon next fall and meet Pat and the others. You will meet some great people. BertBeagle (Ashley Page) |
Pat may be the nicest guy in the world in person, but I'm not planning on going to NC to meet him, so the only way I can judge him is by his actions on this forum, and, on the forum he is a jerk.
He is sophomoric to anyone who disagrees with him. His retorts of adult ma$turbation, calling adults "boys" his insults to anyone that doesn't have all day to find, cut, and paste to his logic as us being stupid, well all of that is enough for me to make an impression of him. I don't fear his idea's or his Lew Rockwell pastes, but when he openly calls for the deaths of American men and women serving this country he can go to He!!. I have great respect for the people that volunteer (and no Pat it's not slavery!) and I support them. They don't make policy, they are just doing the job they volunteered to do and we should be supporting them. So the ten people that have met him say he's great, well of the thousands of people that have read some of his cut and pastes and his idiotic, repulsive responses to them, his total lack of respect for anyone on this board who disagrees with him to me equals a jerk! Anyone notice how he disappeared after someone with the authority to ban him from the board spoke up. Seems his responses are weighted to whether you can effect him, and that to me is a coward! Just my two cents Steve |
+1
If his hair was on fire....I would not waste the urine to hose him off. There are limits to what one can say/post and have any reasonable expectation of forgiveness. He has far exceeded that by calling for the death of his countrymen at the hand of terrorists. That is lower than the stuff one scrapes from their shoe. |
Are you guys saying Pat doesn't mean it when he says our boys should be killed and other such garbage? It's some kind of Tabsesque joke?

Where did Pat go??

Someone else described him as a sociopath, (I can't take credit for that) that is exactly what he was on the web. I have no interest in meeting someone like that even if they are miss goody f___in two shoes in person. Life is too short to spend time on *********s like that. Sorry, If I know he will be somewhere, I'm staying home or just going for a drive in the pcar myself. "To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." --- inaccurately attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson |

League-of-the-South = Klan-lite. (As in racist, but without being overt.) I was not making any reference to your get together. Until I read your one sentence quoted above, I had no clue what you were going off about. It dawns on me that most in POT have probably never heard of the "League of the South". Heck, most southerners have never heard of them. They're a very small group. In a nutshell their agenda is to create a separate White-Anglo-Saxon Protestant south. To this end they propose ideas that recast the past. Examples are: * The civil war was actually an unconstitutional revolution of Federalism. * Slaves in the south were happy and prosperous. * Lincoln was evil. * The USA is consumed with Imperialism. Do the topics sound familiar? |

Can someone post a link to the thread Pat was reprimanded for? (or at least give a brief description of it) I have been away from PPOT alot lately for X-mas stuff with family.
Pat's politics are extreme and often distasteful, but based on his similar interests in things non-political, he and I could probably BS for days on end in person so long as politics did not come up. I don't think I could say the same about Rodehard though. |

Some of their closely held ideas are then reinforced by military service, that enable's them to carry them into adulthood, in fact tells them that it's honorable to hold onto such ideas. Confusing the US government for America is a prime example. The two are not the same, a fact that the founders repeatedly stated long ago. But, it's my opinion that there are no "bandwidth" wasters here, though I do get tired of seeing just another post concerning some possible winner of a professional sports contest, I don't view it as a waste of bandwidth, and usually don't look at the message. Borrowing a line from the movie "Big Jake", "Jake McCandles, I thought you was dead." John Wayne as Jacob McCandles, "Not hardly." So, "fastpat, I thought you was dead." Not hardly. |
So who do you guys think is going to win the Super Bowl?
:) |
If there is an award - what´s the prize ?
|
You boys need to study your US history a bit more. Pat's ideas are as American as apple-freakin'-pie. Many come directly from the founding fathers (who were, by definition, revolutionaries). A lot of his beliefs have gone out of fashion - and some went out of fashion 150+ years ago. But the deeper issue of when/where/how the citizens of a democracy can/should tell their government to go eff itself is far from resolved. Call it the struggle between individual freedom vs collective responsibility or call it the right to secede. Either way the issue should not be dismissed.
|
BTW - My vote for the biggest waste of bandwidth goes to Joe and Shaun. Even though I consider Shaun to be a good personal friend, I will never get back the hours I lost reading through all of the drivel about the mother freaking check. It was like a train wreck that never seemed to end - and was far more of a WASTE than any political argument.

2) "Pat's ideas" is in quotes because most of his incessant posts aren't even his own original ideas, but mindless cut and pastes from various blogs. Everyone has political beliefs, and everyone can find blogs that support that belief. What a waste of time. Imagine if every liberal, conservative, libertarian, objectivist, etc. etc. etc. posted 15 cuts and pastes from their favorite blog sites every day? Waste of time. 3) "Pat's ideas" aren't as scary as they are predictable and posted in an overly repetitious manner. I think everyone gets the idea by now. That's why he gets my vote. It's not related to the substantive content at all. |
This thread (and my posts) are a total waste of BW. Thanks milt. :)

Indeed, I agree with Pat much much much more than he would ever know, but his delivery is so distasteful that I can't bring myself to back him up.

I post them in support of my ideas, much like posting footnotes on a research paper in support of the thesis. |

I can't say he was reprimanded, more like ostracized. I say that having an excellent command of the language on top of being well informed are neither necessarily signs of intelligence. At least the kind I appreciate. I see successful politicians that are great orators and seem to understand what's going on, but they are terribly misguided and irrelevant. They seem to have no common sense, to me the form most associated with superior intelligence. A sociopath may be one who acts out reckless and harmful deeds without remorse. A misanthrope who lobs provocative idealisms from right field might very well be nothing more than a lonely iconoclast. |

That, combined with the incessant pasting and more sinister portions of his agenda (literally, not figuratively destroying government - read: blasting caps) make him about as popular as tabs was at the ................. site. Many of "his" ideas I'm fine with. |

The US government will die when people start laughing at it every hour of every day, when we cut off most if not all of the funding of it, and people start forbidding it to kill anyone. Blowing up buildings would strenghen government, that's the last thing I'm interested in accomplishing. Glad I've helped you out here. |
hey Pat
Some of us are still waiting for your smart a$$ response to this "Pat, You are on a short leash. I suggest you find another forum to post your outrageous stuff. This isn't the place for it. I've read your posts these past few weeks and many of them are not what I want associated with Pelican Parts (calling for the death of US soldiers, for example). Regards, Scott" Nothing but silence from you on that thread. How come you have not shown Scott the same disrespect you show everyone else on this board? Are you afraid he will take away your bully pulpit? Your a coward Steve |
