Well, it's time for the '06 awards. Let's start with who wastes the most bandwidth.
I'm not a regular around the OT forum, so I'll recuse myself from nominating anyone.
|
I won't mention any actual names, but it starts with "Fast" and ends with "pat".
I haven't opened a thread started by him in months. |
Tough call.
Fastpat seems to post quite a bit, but he rarely posts photos. A single large photo post can chew up the equivalent of hundreds of text posts. |
I like some of pats threads and he seems like a nice guy... but he does seem to have a lot of spare time on his hands. :D
|
I've only recently re-discovered OT and this time it hasn't totally p*ssed me off....yet. So I suppose I have been kind of verbose the last few weeks. I'll try to stifle my opinions more.
|
Shut up, Dan.
|
Well, if you really look at it as an average, there are folks with longer SIGNATURES than many of pat's posts!;)
|
In terms of total number of useless posts, Fat Pat wins hands down. I did not find him to be a nice or good guy in any sense of the word. I just found him to be a useless boor. Total bandwidth considering pictures is too hard to quantify. No votes for that one. Since FP left after the stern talking to he received a few days ago, I have noticed a considerable drop in the number of new posts and an definite increase in civility on the board.
|
If you taking about photos, I have the winner. Starts with R, ends in D.
|
Ya, well, I guess my nomination, is obvious, I gotta give the little gold Pee Wee Herman statue to Fastpaste. I realize that it is a waste of time to rebut the online rants of a stupid old man, but damn, sometimes a statement is so ridiculous and obnoxious I feel like I gotta chime in. And we can't ignore the bonus points awarded for being an educated idiot. And he has gotten a lot of laughs around the office.
|
Milt,
I’ll nominate myself. I actually posted intentionally on OT because it wasn't appropriate on 911 Technical. Gasp.... Best, Grady |

Fastpat left? I missed that. I guess that's what happens when I don't read his posts. I guess I'll be quiet now. Don't want to get on Superman's bad list. |

That said, Procon and I met for drinks the other night and the topic and we were discussing how different people are in person vs. the internets. Pat and RickV and BertBeagle to name a few were super cool guys to meet in person. RickV is probably one of the most intense persons you'll ever meet and you'll walk away exhausted. Pat is pretty laid back and a very cool guy. Its too bad you let his posts on here make you hate him so much. I met a really cool guy that is fun to hang around with. |
Fastpaste left?
Hmm, quick check of the first page of OT . . . don't see his name as the topic starter of 40% of the posts . . . by golly, I think you're right. That's going to be a tough thing to adjust to for him, like adjusting after a retirement from work. So much free time, what to do? Cutting and pasting that same predictable, repetitious stuff over, and over, and over again seemed like a 24/7 job to him. Oh well, the South will rise again, and Fastpaste will too, I predict (unless he's been banned, which I highly doubt). It's too much for him to give up cold turkey. |

Pat's gone!?
And no one nominated me for anything! I can't get no respect. Speaking of disappearing acts, what happened to Bryan Thompson? |
I guess I have to nominate myself. I even piss off myself sometimes.
Good thing is it's mostly just my 'net persona. |
I will second Jims Defence of Pat. I had a certian expectation of "what" Fastpat is. When I met the man I realized quickly, I couldn't have been further from the truth. The best part is I can see the humor of alot of his posts after meeting him. A nicer, quieter person you would be hard pressed to find......................realy..............no kidding.
PS, calling me intense...................this comming from the poster child for coffee overdose..................... :) |
You know, I disagree with any personal attacks. On the other hand good argument is the “spice of life” and very worthwhile. We never should be dissuaded from this.
I support all the argument, whatever side. Political disagreement is vital for our society. The well reasoned argument is the basis for our democracy. We all should support “I disagree with what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it.” Everyone should argue their point. I am only sorry I am not sufficiently articulate. My grandfather was editor of the Princetonian and wrote much opposed to the administration. He and President Wilson eventually became friends in opposition. What little we do here can possibly have a significant influence. Don’t sell it short. Best, Grady |
I have to abstain so I don't get banned, I'll leave it at that.

I honestly didn't think I would like Pat. I thought he would be a grumpy old man that was overly opinionated and manipulatng. I was soooo wrong. After meeting him, I look at his posts and threads now, when I used to ignore them. Then I laugh because most of his oposers are a big brown bear and Pat is the guy with a stick poking at the bear. He is the Mul wrapped in a different wrapper. |
I have gone back and read some of the accolades FP has received and the strange thing to me is that people who have met him change their opinion of him, I suppose that is fine if you get the opportunity or desire to meet him. If not, then how do we get to see that genteel side of this poor forlorned individual.
I thought this was about internet persona not personal contact. Not that I really give a shlt. |
Fastpaste +1.
Nothing personal, but I will not miss his posts. True southerners do not benefit from those who move here from California and then perpetuate bad stereotypes. Anyway, there wasn't much original thought to Pat. Everything mentioned seemed to come straight from a League-of-the-South meeting or web site. Kind of like "Klan-lite". |

I was born and raised in NY and last I checked RoninLB was in NY and Rick isn't exactly in the south..... oh and that couple from Monteal... I guess Canada is the new South. To call our Pelican meet Klan like is sort of in poor taste. It was not a Fast Pat meet, I met him there and spent one evening drinking and eating with him, the rest of the time I drove my car on some killer roads. |
Waste bandwith.
