So Joe, when you were in the Med, did you ever make it to the Southern Turkish coast? Beautiful area...spent a couple of weeks there aboard a friend's ketch back in 1980.

Gold is cheap there and they will make you anything you want out of leather for a very nice price. Walked into one place and said "I want a Herman Goering" leather jacket. Two days and $100 later walked out a happy man. Still have the jacket... One of the nicest places on the Med and many people do not go there. Hope that Bill checks in from time to time but he is into the open ocean stuff and he may be out of range for a while. Joe PS Michael, Bill B, the owner is an old friend and he still does not understand electrons. If there is not a RIO onboard and it does not work, he defers it and pushes on.

With a bit more hair that could be me! Sailed in Greece a lot when I lived there and experienced some incredible storms. Unbelievable how quickly these can come up in the Aegean! Really hard to beat island hppong there though, sliding into a little harbour at night and having some cold retsina and grilled squid in a small taverna by the water. Hucking feaven if you ask me. ![]()

Dottore,
Agree and I became addicted to Retsina and Greek food while there. Problem is that here in America the food is not the same and the wine is watered down, so have to return to Europe to enjoy a real taste. Love sailing that part of the world... Legion, Same person, just with a do not give a damm attitude these days. Ask him but my feeling is that he got tired of the one sided political crap going on here and quit. Just told Wayne to delete his account and everyone else who did not agree could piss off. Ask him, he will be glad to tell you and many of us agree with his viewpoint. I left the entire Pelican forum for the very same reason for almost two months last year. It gets rather one sided on the OT forum at times. I can post a photo of a scantily clad lady and its immediately pulled as being unacceptable, while another person can post almost exactly the same photo and it stays up forever. Life aint fair but we are not allowed to change it as this is not a democracy. Just take it as is or leave I guess.

I gather that today, with the new lovefest between the Greeks and the Turks, its much easier to sail the Turkish coast out of Greek ports. It's on my To Do list!
