i know we mentioned it at your house several weeks back, but you should really think about showing your car at the '09 monterey historics. it is confirmed that porsche is the featured marque.

Interesting Idea,
Though the organizers are pretty strict about the cars they let in for the races.
It's invite only and the second hardest in the world to get into (after Goodwood),
the car would no doubt be one of the stars of the car club corrals. Which is saying
something considering the turnout of unique porsches likiely to turn out if porsche
is the featured marque. If you've never been to the historics it is a must do event
at least one in your life. I went in '03 (Ford) and '04 (Ferrari) and would be tempted
to go again next year if Chris took his car. With Porsche the marque you are likely
to see many cars you would otherwise never have a chance to see in person and
many/most of them running on track. For instance probably every running 917 in the
world not to mention lots of other unique and one off cars. In '03 they had almost
every GT40 and in '04 they had every GTO, P4, and 512. Good times.
Peace, Kiley

I think pursuing something at Monterey is a brilliant idea. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity. You have the historic media and this thread to prove the provenance of the car and get the interest of the organizers.

I wouldn't even consider the races as I don't think the car is really suited to that, but a display at Pebble (tough to do I would think) or the Quail (very doable) is worth pursuing.

If you pull it off, save those Goodyears as I think the patina of the car makes it very appealing to the crowds that will be on hand. Kind of like a rare "barn find"...only you never lost it.

Anyone going to the "Best of France & Italy" car show this weekend?
I've never been but heard it's pretty good.
Sunday @ Woodley park in Van Nuys.

Was thumbing through some old Road & Tracks and came across this. Cyclops transforms into a Bugatti Royale and hits Mul, among other spots, on a fantasy run:

Have any of you seen this OnStar/GM commercial where the Chevy Malibu swerves to miss a deer and hits a tree? Kinda looks like Mulholland to me.

This YouTube vid is pretty dark... it helps a little to click to full screen... but as the ad has been showing lately on TV, in the distance and to the left of the roadway looks a lot like the streets of the valley. At the end, there's another shot of the same road with the ambulances, but it's not included here for some reason.

Just wondering if anyone recognizes the set of curves that are shown in the wide shot.

Hi John,

I see what you are talking about, but I don't think it is Mulholland Dr. The road seems to bend too far to the right at 2 seconds.

Bob's Big Boy Friday night? I was at Kevin's shop and he brought up the idea... I could be there around 7/7:30.
