Damn, little snow flakes coming down in the San Diego area. First time since the mid-40s they say. Really small & you could barely see them floating down, but really neat to see.

At 2AM, L.A. was 30 degrees.
Chicago was 34 degrees. New York, 44 degrees. And people move here (L.A.) for the weather... :D |
3:59 a.m. and 31 degrees in Pasadena. Its warming up!
I'm probably leaving for the Pomona Swap meet in an hour and a half it'll probably be up to a balmy 40 degrees by then. |
Ove an inch of ice here. Even the yard is like a skating rink. Our pine trees have been losing some big branches due to the ice. Time to get the chain saw out.

I was out at the GES Marshalling Yard on Friday here in LV.(.Block east of Mandalay Bay, 2 Blocks South of Tropicana.) Got there at 7:30 AM it was 36* and Sunny, 4 people were ahead of me in line to turn in paperwork to do Convention PUs. I went back and sat in the Truck, the line soon swelled to a constant 30 people in line with a 2 hour wait in the cold. BY 10 AM it was overcast and snowing in Summerlin. The line stayed that way till I left after 3 PM.

Power just came back on again
only 10 hours this time. Only about 1/2 inch of ice in Saint Chuck, Kurt. My pin oaks are fine but the pine is history. Trees down everywhere. I went outside last night, after the power went out again. The sky all around was lit in blue and green as line went down and transformers burned. You could see the glow from the places that were ok suddenly go dark. Trees all around cracking and popping. Pretty cool, in an erie sort of way... |

Sorry to hear you guys in Missouri are getting slammed!
Here in the outskirts of L.A., we had below-freezing temps for more than 12 hours and my outdoor thermometer shows a low of 21F last night! The house pipes were actually frozen-up for a bit this morning. You can also kinda see in the pic that some of our favorite plants are severely damaged/dead. |
Devastation is relative.
:) |
damn, it has been chilly the last couple of days. I got back from HI and it was like 75 degrees at 10pm, Then another day of 80 degrees, and then it just snapped. My apt has crappy heat (gee, what a surprise). Need gloves to type. Fading fast. Send alcohol...and women. plenty of women...

1 PM, and our fountains are just now thawing. Ice everywhere this morning. In the fountains, in the gutters, on the streets. I overheard someone say Coldwater Canyon en route up to Mulholland was closed because of ice.

Down here in the hinterlands I am looking out the rec room window at the blindingly white peaks of the Catlinas. Snow above the 7,000 foot level. Beautiful. Temp here (2:30 Sunday PM) is 43 degrees; overnight low was about 28.
