That sounds good until Mom's dog actually eats the off-leash challenger. The dog will earn documented violent behavior (including self-defense) and will only need to pee in a neighbors yard to get the axe. Sad really. But in this world of irresponsible owners with big dogs a line has to be drawn somewhere. Case in point the 10yr old girl killed in TX last week by a neighbors large breed dog.

Our GSD was constantly challenged by other, may times much smaller, dogs during our runs on public trails. Every other day brought another conflict near-miss. For that, and many other similar threats beyond my 100% control I made the tough decision to sell the dog to someone else.

Back OT - sucks horribly to run over an animal. I still cringe when I pick-off the occasional rabbit in East county. Thankfully unlike Nostatic I have not had an encounter on 2 wheels yet.
