Mac Users Only

Since we all hate the us vs them threads this is for the Mac users only.

Had to run out and grab a PC for an emergency project. Game code that was not optimized and would not run on my current PC's.

Picked up a decent spec box at CompUSA with every intention of returning it when I was done. Restock fee is just a cost of business.

It's actually not a bad box, has media center on it and was considering keeping it. It's been a week, it started running slow, think it has a virus because it got into a cycle of rebooting itself out of no where. Did it 5 times in 20 minutes tonight.

Said f this, put all my work on the second drive in the PC, yanked the drive, re-imaged the machine back to factory default.

Went to Apple store, bought a MacPro. Pulled it out of the box, took 15 seconds to put the drive from the PC in before I even booted it for the 1st time. Transferring my data now and tomorrow the PC is going back.

Tomorrow the MacPro will get 2 more drives, one set up as a Windows boot drive and I'm done. (Yes, I already have Parallels and will use that most of the time but for development game code gotta run native)

The MacPro is an absolute wonder inside. The level of detail and industrial design is out of this world.

I think Jobs is an alien.

iPod/Tunes and PC don't mix very well - crash city for iTunes. XP has no problems through it all and lets me kill off a dead iTune process w/o problem.

Were you running AV software on the failing PC? Sounds more like a hardware issue. Oops Mac only...

Yeah I know, I just went to Dell and configured a box to the same spec as the MacPro that I just picked up, actually I did not upgrade the video card in the Dell to a 256 like the Mac has, left it at the 128 and after the discount the Dell was only $400 more

No, but add $100 to the Mac for a copy of Windows and it included a PC

Extraterrestrial origin is certainly a possible explanation... he certainly didn't look like your typical 21-year-old in '77.
