Things You DON'T Like On 911's
Don't get me wrong, I love 911's but there are things that come with them or get done to them that I really don't like.
Just my $.02, YMMV: Any tail other than ducks on narrow bodied cars - looks tacked on. Mid Year and SC non-integrated foglights - they just hang there and look like they came from Pep Boys. Aftermarket graphics on almost all of them, but especially otherwise stock cars. Phonedials on 911's. Aftermarket wheels too, other than Minilites and Torq Thrusts on some early hotrod cars. Poor color change paint jobs You?

The fact that someone had the bright idea to put the engine in the car backwards......

There's actually a long thread with this exact question somewhere. I'm pretty sure it's in the 911 technical board.

What do 911 drivers say at an AX? "$hit... there's a 914 in my class!!" What do 914s eat for breakfast? 911s.

I was going to ask you how small your penis is, but you went and answered the question for me with that second post.
BTW, is your lawn mower a rear, or a side bagger? (guy who used to whoop on 914's in autocross in a 911)

Oh yeah, back on subject.
Chromed Fuchs Body-color Targa bars Poorly fitting fiberglass parts Incongruous aftermarket body parts, I.E. mixed years/eras (I've been guilty of this in the past)

Thats a big part of it... but remember 2 things... 1. The 914 -6 GT won it's class in the 1970 LeMans race, beating out a bunch of 911s with bigger engines. It only had to have fuel, tires, and brake pads during the 24 hours. And it took 6th overall, beating a bunch of prototype cars. 2. The majority of the PCA parade AX top times in the last 20 years have been a 914. And you guys take this way to seriously...... I like 911s. I also like picking on their drivers. "Lighten up Frances" I was just kidding. (bloody no sense of humor talidragger driver.....) ![]()

They do make about the ultimate autocross car, I'll give you that.
I just don't like the way it feels to sit in one and drive. just doesn't do it for me. That, and they look like a Toro lawnmower without the push handle. I wouldn't kick a 916 out of bed though.

Any kind of wing on targas. Sorry, I just don't like it.
I don't like chrome or polished Fuchs either. Just not my thing.

Hmm, there's not a lot.
Chromed Fuchs, yeah, but you can't blame Porsche for what people do after the car leaves the factory. Anodizing the wheels seems so unique and so "Porsche," probably not cheap to do, but incredibly durable and understated. Unlike chrome, which covers ever cheap wheel on the rack at Pep Boys. The steering wheels always seemed a bit weak to me, esp. when compared to other sports cars, like BMW. BMW had some very cool 3 spoke sport steering wheels in the 70s and 80s. The SC 3 spoke wheel always looked like it was made to eventually house an airbag, a bit unweildy. The 4 spoke Carrera wheel is just kinda "blah." |

Yellow French headlight glass on cars in the USA...just looks dorky.

![]() ![]() Hah! You got all of the major ones IMHO. I also can't stand engine components that have anything other than stock finish, with some matte black or silver fan/shrouds being the exception. Keep the purple, yellow and red paint on the Honda please.

Targa tops on any 911. Convertible tops on any 911. Sealed beam headlights rather than then cool flush ones.

Things I don't like on 911's? They where the perfect performance car at one stage in automotive history. Once they became overpriced status symbols, things went down hill - IMHFO, stuff got even worse when they became "generified" in the late 80's (964 on - but particularly the 993 and dont even get me started on the water pumpers).
Of course, the RS, GT2,3 and Turbo's are immune to any of the above criticism. Is some dude here seriously deluded enough to think a 914 comes close in any way, shape or form? Man - go bump your head again. It could be reversible.

Dashes that crack in only about 20 years or so.
Having to buy stock in Exxon to do oil changes. Getting to that &@#$ sparkplug in at the front of the engine. An engine which is assembled from more darn pieces than anyone outside a racing garage would design. And did I mention the potential for oil leaks? (Of course, when you hit a medium-fast sweeper in 3rd, all is forgiven.) ![]() Les
