Saw a Bugatti Veyron on the street last night:
Saw it driving on Wilshire between Westwood and BH. I was driving behind or next to it the whole way until he turned on Beverly Dr. Unfortunately, I do not carry a camera all the time and did not bother with a cell phone pic. It was pearl white metallic. There were several vehicles chasing it through the Wilshire corridor trying to get a better look or a picture w/ cell phones. Good thing the guy was not trying to lose them; an SUV full of young car nuts is no match for a 250 mph, 0-60 in 2 seconds Veyron.
I got next to it at the red light in front of the Beverly Hilton and exchanged smiles and a wave w/ the driver, (owner?), he was a nicely dressed black guy whom I did not recognise. (Didn't look like a rapper). Even in L.A. where expensive/exotic cars are a dime a dozen, that thing is a superstar. People were chasing it down the street like it was the Beatles. An Enzo would not get bothered like that here. It was a trip. Here is the car description: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugatti_Veyron |

Hey, didja know Bugatti is a french brand (owned by VW, mind you) , and the Veyron is made in France, in Alsace to be percise... A car made by commie pinko cheese eating surrender monkeys, how bout that?

Probably explains why they sell each one at a massive loss.

Costs 5 million euros to build each one, according to wiki. (That includes development costs divided by production #s, not actual production cost). Actually, for each one they sell the loss figure goes down, albeit slowly).

I've seen that same car on Wilshire, cross street Barrington. I thought white was an odd color for a Bugatti. Still very cool none the less.

If there was ever a car that does not need a two-tone paint job, it's the Veyron. Yet somehow they seem to do a lot of them like that. It's like J-Lo wearing a pair of sweats that says "ass" across the back.

Now, that's a Bugatti!

I figured as much, (that it is for tradition), but it just doesn't work on that car. It's like white wall tires on a GT-3.

The veyron bodyworks remind me of a 959; slapped on body panels underneath which you can see very clearly see the heart of the car.
But I've heard the veyron looks much better in person than in the rags. And I certainly would not turn down a ride in one.

There is one owned by hip-hop producer Scott Storch. From what I've read he drives it quite a bit around LA.

If it was the pearl white / ice blue color combo, then that's the car that went 400 km/h on some dry lake bed up north. It was down here at Symbolic, along with a sister car that was finished in red/black a few months ago. I was eating at Wahoo's fish tacos in La Jolla and one blasted past, it was amazing! About 3 weeks ago, they had another Veyron come through, blue/black that was promptly delivered to its new owner.
Storch actually keeps his Veyron at his South Florida house (along with his SLR and custom Rolls Royce Phantom convertible), but has brought it out to SoCal and been spotted driving it on Rodeo drive.
