Wifey wants a 'new' car

Margarita has been driving the Jeep the past 2 weeks and thinks we need a better car. I'm looking at a couple of replacements. 4dr Sedans.

2003 BMW 530 i 4D Sedan
Exterior Color: Silver
Interior Color: Gray Leather
Mileage: 48K
$24,599

or maybe this:

2002 Audi A6 2.7T quattro 4D Sedan
Exterior Color: Silver
Interior Color: Gray Leather
Mileage: 24K
$20,998

The Audi is slightly less expensive, lower miles, but is out of warranty. The BMW has 2K left on the warranty.

Anyone own one of these, who cares to comment?

Randy,

Nice Rolex on the babe but titties far too large for my taste...

James,

I thought that Audi's only came in black ???

Personally either one would work for me but a warranty is nice.

Vote for the Audi here. A friend of mine got one recently and absolutely loves it. Quick, versatile, fun, tons of room, etc. Good car. The BMW is a good car too, especially if you get the factory warranty transferred to you.

You're lucky. My wife wants a new car, but it's the Lexus 430SC. I'm trying to hold off as long as I can hoping she will forget about it.

If you don't want to be married to the dealership$ $ervice program, better check with your local mechanic and find out who gives out electric/repair schematics to the independants, and you.

I'm under the impression Audi's break down, and BMWs are a bit*h to get repaired.

You can find a more reasonable price on a 02 Audi than that...

What do you think the right price is for an 02 A6 with only 24K miles?

Whatever it is, it's better than the price of a new wife.

Or even a used one, with or without warranty.

Are there any places to get aftermarket warranties for wives?

I've gone the new route twice and the used once and I don't plan to change this one. But a warranty would be nice...

Another vote for the BMW. I had an e39 5 Series and loved it. They do have a lot of electronics, but are wonderful cars. If you pull your own wrenches, they're reasonable from a maintenance standpoint. If not, hold onto your wallet. My former wife took our 528iT wagon when we divorced. She ended up trading it as she was at the mercy of the stealership whenever it needed maintenance...

I've looked at the Consumer Sat rating for the 2 cars and the BMW comes out much higher. The costs are similar. The BMW gets better milage. We have a 2000 that people can't believe is 7 years old, it still looks so good. I guess we'll go look at the 530 tonight.

ASk yourself first: How is to be used? Long distance hauler? Grocery Getter? Kid taxi?

Frankly, buying a car that does not fir the role for which it is to be used is not a wise use of resources. Also, just my opinion, but buying a car simply as something to be seen in and not taking into accout operating costs is also something that should be avoided.

Recommended: Visit a couple of repair shops for the vehicles that your wife seems to prefer. Ask about typical problems. Usually theguys are happy to share their experience as a way of getting you to be a regular should you buy a vehicle they service. My local German car repair shop with every tech traines by Bosch and others tells me he just LOVES Audis, certain BMWs, and all VWs. He says they keep in well in the green. He doesn't service Porsche. Wise man.

My 98 528i has been great. 9 years old now and 100k and I have no plans to change it. Feels like a rock at 80.
