Got Waynes Rebuild Book!

Hours of fun reading in preparation.

I have to admit that the opening picture of the engine disassembled helps with the intimidation of the overall project; while I'm sure there are hundreds of more parts involved, it doesn't look horrible.

Now I just wish each part had a little arrow and callout describing it Yes, that's how green I am.

Jack

Jack, even with all the great pictures in Waynes book, and the enclosed CD, get a digital camera and take even more as you disassemble the engine.

You're reading my mind; I was thinking this a.m. (good ablution reading material) that I should buy a cheaper digital camera since it will likely become greasey, dirty, and get dropped. My current canon set me back 600-700 so don't want to screw with that one.

Reading the book is sort of how I imagine the early pathologists felt when they first opened a human body: "so THATS what that looks like..."

A dedicated shop camera is a great idea. I use a Canon a75, 3.2megapixels and has macro. You can get them used on ebay for ~$100

I'm in the process of setting up a proper work area in the garage. I'm going to set up a computer out there; wifey hates it when I'm sitting in the sunporch in my coveralls uploading pics.

Waynes book is great. I bought a 2.0 911 longblock last year, and used Wayne's book to help me tear it down and assess the parts. Great way to learn.
