Attempted theft of my high $$$ daily driver

Must be slim pickin's when they are trying to steal this little fellah:

Seriously?!? WTF?

I walked to my truck (I don't even know if I can get away with calling it that, but it's not a car) and the interior light was on. I thought "oh , great... no way is it gonna start."

Then I look in, and all the contents of the glove box are on the seat. Screwdiver hammered into the ignition switch.

Funny thing; I lost the keys 2 months ago. Instead of getting a new ignition, I wired an "on" and "start" switch in a SECRET UNDISCLOSED LOCATION. Good enuff for me, and the rotten little thieving ba$tard must have been stumped when he wasn't able to start it with the screwdriver in the ignition.

I love this vehicle. It's the best $400 I ever misspent.

I don't know what the market is like up there with you, but down here any unmolested sammy that runs has "wanna be a rock crawler" written all over it.

Very strong (though not high dollar) market with ALOT of people looking for replacement body panels. Seems that rock crawling with poor skills or bad luck results in body damage that your insurance company does not cover!

Ya, I've had 3k offers on this thing from the US. It only has 40K, and it's a long wheelbase (as far as sammys go); these were never sold in the states. Plus, before I bought it, it had never seen snow and sat in a barn since 94.

I won't sell it though; it's too much fun. I bought it half on a dare, but it's easily the most reliable vehicle I ever owned. My wife HATES it... especially when our "good" car is broken and she is stuck driving my "$chitbox".

There is no honor among thieves. There's little logic, too.

They'd steal the stink off of ***** if they could find a way to do it around these parts. . . I once had a ratty, semi-moldy, bird-dropping stained, torn motorcycle cover stolen off my bike one night. Someone actually cut the metal locking cable off it for that. Real head-scratcher.

Look at this thing! Boxy, purposeful, low mileage.

But I bet the real reason someone tried to pinch it was because it runs on vegetable oil.

Actually I only ran two tanks of canola, then the chinese restaurant where I get my oil shut down.

They probably tried to pinch it because they thought it would be fun for a winter joyride... It is!
