Purify air with water?
I am looking for an air purifier that uses water to clean the air, sort of like the Rainbow vacuums did. There are all sorts of basic and high tech purifiers out there, but I can't seem to find one that uses water. If you know of one would you please let me know? Thanks!

Here you go. Sounds like a nice product, have seen a few in peoples homes, but no first hand experience (it is made in Germany):

Yep those are some of the best purifiers made. I was surprised to see that they were sold and Bed Bath & Beyond. Start @ $199 http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/stylepage.asp?order_num=-1&RN=82&RNT=8&IPP=8

I'm interested in these, too. Thanks for the links. I'll check them out.

Thanks for the responses. These venta-airwashers seem to be high maintainence. It looks like you have to refill them with water everyday. Is that actually true? Otherwise they look great.

I think you re-fill them weekly or so...

the only problem I have with any of these type of filters is the range of their intake. Do they filter anything more than the air in their immediate vicinity?

Great, but may I have a question, why not using True HEPA air purifiers?

HEPA would be better. The water might make things worse with adding mold. It will also add moisture to the air, which may or may not be a bad thing.

They are in fact considered humidifiers.
