V8 in a 914 is a completely different kettle of fish, because 1) there is more room in the mid-engine bay, and 2) it wouldn't upset the weight balance anywhere near as much as a front- or rear-engined car. I've seen quite a few of these conversions... although I'd rather see a large-displacement aircooled six in there.

You're 19 years old and you've owned pver 30 cars? Do you think your parents would be willing to adopt a 27 year old?

There is a guy with a screen name REZ on this forum who is doing the 20B into the 914 swap.
http://forum.teamfc3s.org/

I have a totally worked over RX7 (see sig) every bit of the suspension on it has been worked over with racing upgrades and it STILL does not feel as good as my Porsche in the turns.

Yes, the RX7 is more balanced but I cannot get it to turn into a turn like the 911. No matter what I do to it.

The 911 is like magic.

nota - if you consider a 36hp 1100cc engine a hot rod, I want some of what you have

Jim - if you think hte 911 is magic, you should try a well sorted stock 356. Not the fastest, but it all works together really nice, and you can push it to the limits and not even get a speeding ticket... in a year or 5 when mine is done and running right again I'll let you drive

To date I've never heard of it being done without losing power brakes since you lose the most logical location for the power booster. Not particularly a good deal, IMO. Power without control is suicidal.

There have been may successful power brake options completed. including a hydro boost and vacuum assist.

Plus, if you build a Chevy V8 hybrid, your penis will automatically shrink by 3".

Oh boy I can feel it shrinking as I type!

If you start posting on the hybrid bulletin board, it'll turn into an "innie".
Oh my god! It has completely turned inside out.

Hilleson1...nice shop

I don't know that I'd ever personally try it. That being said there are a few absolutely pristine conversions posted in here. The biggest PIA would be the cooling system. And the wiring. And the adapter from one motor to the other. And...

In the shop I shared with a group of Chevy afficionado's, they all stood around in amazement when we started tearing down 911 motors. They marvelled at the precision of porsche castings, machine work, engineering, etc. And they were accustomed to some pretty state of the art pieces and parts on their V8's.

well the base VW had sub 1000cc and 25 hp
so a 10% size gain and 1/3 more power is a hotrod
