Job offer - is this phishing for info?

This morning, I received the email below. The devil and his grandma alone knows where they got my email address from. I am not registered at any job-seeking sites.

This just looks like spam, or phishing for personal data. Funny that they don't ask for bank or cc details. Besides, $63500 per annum plus Acme stock options isn't _that_ attractive to me. Also, WTH is "financial logistic" ??

Should I tag them along? Anyone else interested in a job in Belgium? I can always refer you.

Since I know several people with CargoLux and have a descent idea of how they recruit people, I could help you on this.

Unfortunatly after some of the comments made in my direction in the last couple of weeks, it might just be better you find out yourself.

Good luck!

ask em directly if you are not sure:

BRUSSELS
Cargolux Airlines International S.A.
Aviapartner Building 703
Brucargo Office 152-154

Phone (2) 751 6224

E-mail bru@cargolux.com

if that adress is correct, i would expect it to be a recruter, not Cargolux
don't think any Airfreight companies would be located on the Avenue Louise... it's to expensive and to far away from the airport

Sounds like a load of crap to me after reading the first two sentences. In the first, they are "pleased to offer you" a position. In the second, they mention candidate qualifications, so right away there's a conflict. Are you a "candidate" or are you hired?

I say bogus.

Besides, if a company resorts to these sorts of methods to recruit its people, do you really want to work there? Assuming it's legit, that is. . .

It's probably not legit, and the company would probably appreciate being made aware that they're being used as a front for ne'er-do-wells.

The company in question is "CargoX", not "Cargolux", but mabye they're the same(?).

Anyone can get a P.O. Box in a nice neighborhood.
I think that with a copy of your DL(!!) and all the other information, getting the SS# would be the easy part for the thieves, those are floating around like candy nowadays.

Could just be a 'lost in translation' issue, and salaries will be lower than the US...

only read cargolux from Joes post..
now CARGOX.com.. nothing comes up
no website yet recruiting for a belgian office but.. no belgian phone number

i'de be hard pressed to trust any company that sends out emails from a domain name that has no website

the CARGOX P.E.
what does PE mean ? it has no relevance to any corporate status like inc. or limited, in Belgium we don't use those terms, we use BVBA or NV...

sounds like a scam to me... but if you want, ask them the number from their Belgian office, i'll call and find out for you

I'm sure its a scam. The reference to CargoX as a subterfuge for CargoLux (the real company) is obvious. I'm really just trying to figure out if its worth playing their game against themselves.

801 is a Utah phone #. For "non-Belgium", you'd think they'd spring for a toll-free... Also, isn't 401K a US retirement plan? (as in US-only) Finally, only Americans spell it "check" - everywhere else (AFAIK) uses "cheque".

btw, what adress was used to send you the email in the first place?

first the cosmetic "from" adress
and then the technical , SMTP header, which tells you where it really came from...

Sounds like a phishing expedition.

I get those all the time via DICE, HotJobs, etc. The basic MO of the ones I get is to get you to give up all your personal information in order to be considered for some position with a hot company/location/salary. They claim that they need your SSN , DL, etc for the federal paperwork, which is true, but that info isn't necessary until they're actually ready to extend an offer.

People are so careless with this data that it becomes very easy to collect, and even legitimate pimps (headhunters) become accustomed to collecting it even when it's not necessary. I've been asked for this info by legitimate pimps, and told that I wouldn't be considered for the position unless I surrendered my personal data.
