Why is it that....

...this administation feels it needs to rule every aspect of our lives (who we can marry, what we can carry on a plane, what books we can check out...) but they can't tell us to stay home on a freaking icy day?

2 hours late is not enough when it's icy out!!!

See the deal is most people can't decide on their own what's in their best interest without someone telling them what to do...so while I'm driving in I have guys blowing past me in a Prius in the HOV lane full of slush. Since they didn't say you could take the damn day off there's more amateurs on the road.

You need the GOVERNMENT to tell you when to take a day off?

Sorry, I work with (not for) the gov't and had a something due on a fixed deadline and I couldn't get ahold of that person. Because they couldn't tell the the civil servants to stay home there was no way to tell if I had a day's grace or not...so I jumped in the car and drove it in. Of course, the person I needed to see wasn't in... but all these other fools were hauling azz down the road in their cars crashing them into the ditchs and such because they were told to report 2 hours late. If this thing wasn't due, I would have never left the house.

6 years ago I worked for a guy that always said stuff like "If I can then you can also". So on days like this he would give anybody who stayed home a really bad time, especially during merit review. Well I went to work ona day like this 6 years ago, crashed, spent 6 months in hospital, HE tried to cut me loose but company policy prevented him from doing so.

Stay home y'all, it ain't worth it.

The Government is like Parents - a true pain in the ass until you are grown up to thank them. The problem is, a country never grows up!

I'd argue that most of the interference in your life comes from your state and local governments.... and the degree of Federal-level interference is pretty much the same, it's just what they're futzing with that changes.

The glory of federalism.... if you want to marry a dude, move to a state whose legislature (representatives of the people) allows it.

Me, I want lower taxes, less gun control and such a minimal degree of social engineering that it approaches pure Darwinism. Hence, I'm leaving NY for TN, SC or maybe NC.

Oh... but back to your point. Um... we just passed the 20th inch of snow received in the last 24 hours. The snow drift in front of my house is taller than I am, and still there are idiots just out driving for no necessary reason... even though Onondaga County has issued a travel advisory prohibiting all but "necessary travel".

I'm telling you, invest in my idea to create a super virus that will kill only stupid people. 3/4 of the McMansions will be vacant in a month.
