Thanks Byron!
here's a mock-up of the back. We'll probably be expanding these when/if we get licenses fromi Daytona, etc. And we should get into Men's in 2008. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172265821.jpg |

Brillo,
Congrats! (you have GREAT taste - another Lisa :D !)... scottmandue, I am blushing... thankyou for the compliments - married and 41 or not; it's always GREAT to hear! I think that Aussie women in the main part don't take themselves too seriously - most of us are pretty comfortable with who we are; flaws and all ;) . You are not the only one to ask if I have a sister - sorry mate; I'm an only child and all my gorgeous girlfriends are now spoken for! Come to Aus and we'll see what we can find; OK? Shaun 84 Targa, That's a great range of gear - love the jackets and the Vintage Racer shirts! Katie, You're doing fine kid - time to buy some very good Porsche books and read them over several times and ask a lot more questions. By the time a couple of years have rolled around and you're ready to invest in a car of your own I'd like to think you have a lot more knowledge under your belt. You're passionate about these cars, so utilise your time-in-waiting to learn as much as possible. Don't leave the learning until you're ready to seriously look for a car - the curve is too steep. Use the SC as a working model and apply what you learn to that - pick the eye teeth out it even if there is nothing wrong in a particular area. Familiarise yourself with every square inch of your Dad's SC so that you are comfortable and knowledgable about the product. Take it from me - you are walking in a man's world and unfortunately most guys will try to pull the wool over your eyes. They are not all like these Pelicanites who are sincere in their quest to help! The more knowledgable you are, the less likely it is that you will be taken advantage of. Remember - I have been walking in "this" world all my life - but I can be a very hard b!tch to deal with once a guy tries to BS to me....and I win or walk away. OK - enough of "the lesson". I'd like to see a lovely pic of you and maybe your Dad if he'd be willing with the SC. Make it a good one, so you guys can enjoy looking at it from time to time. My Dad is gone now (nearly 4 years) and I cherish the father-daughter P-car shots I have...we had loads of really fun times together! Sorry - scanned photo (dates back to 1990!)...also this was day 4 or 5 of a Rally where the temps were well over 100 degrees in your language every day; so we both look kinda jaded... still had bags of fun though! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172273844.jpg |
Lisa, can you please tell me about the car on the right - SPYDR.1? Is that the same car leading the pack in the other pic you posted?
I think I'm in love! |
Once again, great pic, Lisa. :)

And while we're at it, WTF happened to my thread? Suddenly I'm seeing pics of jeans, shirts and jackets. Among other random things. Damn. I've been absent from here for 12 hours and this is what happens?!
|
We gotta shorten this thread or else when I print it out it'll take on novel-like proportions.
By the way, I saw Aubie today. His owner told me he's surprised I don't know every inch of that car by now. He even was kind enough to take me around the block in him...all I can say is..damn. That turbo is fast. *rolls eyes in wishful thinking* That car better be around in 2 years, dammit, cos I'm determined to get him, even if I have to drag his sorry rusted ass outta the junk yard... |

Gregory Abarth Carrera for Scott
Quote:
She is one very special car. Dad built her back in the late 80s using his lightweight 356 racer (356B T5 coupe shell with VERY hot stroked 4 cylinder and fabulous Carrera gearbox). This car has undergone several transformations over many years. Dad had always wanted an Abarth GTL - pretty rare on the ground as you guys would know! He did go so far as to attempt to buy one of the remaining few in private hands over 20 years ago - no dice. So instead, he decided to use an Abarth as the inspiration for his Outlaw. The body took over 12 months; is all steel and hand fabricated. At the time we had a pain in the ass artisan working for us - his work as you can see was excellent; but he was the ultimate prima donna! Instead of running a quad cam; Dad elected to use a 2.0L S MFI engine coupled to the 356 Carrera box. It's reliable and fast. Pretty heavy; but that adds to her stability at high speed. It has a 300kmh speedo for good reason as this car has seen more than 250kmh on several occasions. The only perceived weakness is using a 356 trannie. I can vouch this is no weakness as the ratios are fantastic and she pulls strong to 7600rpm in EVERY gear. Secret is DO NOT LOAD IT UP OR DUMP THE CLUTCH. There's no need; I roll her off the line and then floor it! To coin a phrase, I drive her like she was stolen; just like Dad did. Keeps the plugs clean and the MFI in great shape. She is a one of a kind; not to be duplicated. Sadly, I do not get the time to drive her as often as is needed (been almost 12 months :o ). Consequently I carve through tyres when they are not worn, batteries every 12 months etc... She's gonna get a good run when I take her to the Phillip Island Historics (best meet in the Southern hemisphere) in a couple of weeks. If you guys want to know more I should start a thread about the car - happy to share some more pics and info. Again; sorry Katie! But every time any of us share info about our cars you get a free lesson! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172298068.jpg |

I really have to agree with Scott here. At 39 and still single, I don't think women like you exist here in the States. Your pics or your cars...tough call. :D  |

Jeez Shaun,
Sometimes I feel like I landed from Mars (or Venus ;) ). I'm just an ordinary girl under "it all". I like girlie stuff, cry on queue for soppy movies or books, am a protective and doting Mum (touch my kid and you're goin' down type), all the usual stuff :) . It's the car thing that gets the guys curious... I met Mike motor racing - Ok that's a little different...I was timekeeper for a 24 hour race team (a girlfriend was team boss). Anyway, I got conned into going along and running the timing as my (then) 911 was off the road (pulled headstuds - aaargh); Easter time and no happy holidays for me without my P-car. VERY happily single at the time too. Mike was an unknown driver to the team - we were short one and he came highly recommended with a great Sports Sedan racing record. When he posted fastest day qualifying for the team (could've been night - can't remember) in a car he had never driven before I sat up and took a bit of notice. Turned out he was a great guy to boot (obviously) and within 12 months we'd tied the knot and the rest as they say is history. We share a HUGE passion for motorsport (among other things) and we're really just a couple of big kids when it all comes down to it - we manage to embarrass our eldest son with our silly antics fairly regularly (particularly me) but I don't think he'd have us any other way... Point is - I wasn't looking AT ALL...just having fun hanging with a group of mates at a weekend race; which BTW we won :) . Things happen when you least expect them :D ! Katie; that's what is going to happen for you when looking for a car too...one day you'll "trip" over the right car that will have you head over heels for all the right reasons...for now lusting after the purple pig might have to do ;) . Now Shaun.. about that clothing range - just how big do you make those jackets? ;) |
Quote:
I've been wanting to make these in adult sizes since I sketched them a month ago, so you would make a good test case. |
You're on Shaun!
I'll dig out a jacket and send you some sizings...I have seriously been looking for a jacket like that; I have a particular need for one for a season of track support we're doing for a couple of 944 Challenge guys down here this year. Your design will be perfect for me as I want something that looks cool but doesn't get in my way (my job - refuel, check tyres/temp, play mother hen aka little Hitler, organise car transport, feed and water drivers/guests and Mike, get dirty only when absolutely necessary or when Mike tells me to!) Just don't anyone tell my Miss 9yo...I have enough trouble keeping her out of my wardrobe as it is! I'm looking for some decent overalls too - I'm serious! Short of wearing a racesuit which is ridiculous, all overalls here are blokey - straight up and down; I'm not wearing those when I have to get dirty(told you I was a real girl). If I had the time I'd design something myself...looking for a good designer here! Or some ideas where to get some as Aus is sadly lacking in girlie-cut but serious overalls. I can't "mooch" at the circuits....gotta be serious about this job. |

Welcome to OT he11 Katie... you start a thread and it tales on a life of it's own... going off in tangents no would could predict! Lisa, great car you have there, I picked up the Abarth styling but also some 356 but have never seen anything like it (obviously). Hey, I'm getting pretty good at this car spotting stuff! I took a lady-friend to the German autofest (Porsche car show) and she had a good time but really didn't "get it", she would wander off when I would come across a rare 911 and stop to photograph it. I sat in a Boxster a dealer had on display and just about wet my pants, she just looked at me and said "why don't you just buy one?"... uh the don't exactly give these things away  she though the 356's were "cute"... couldn't understand why I was so excited about the 74' 911 with a 2.4... at one point she got bored and started chatting with a nice gentleman... who brought his CGT to display  |
Dam I miss-spelled college!
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1172343411.jpg Anyone know where I can get a hub cap for a 53 Studebaker? |
LOL
