Style vs. Substance - Who's your huckleberry?

The theism debate I tried to instigate between JP and PB brought up an interesting point about the posting style people use here in OT.

Some people seem to pizz people off as much for how they say things as for what they say.

I can think of five people that are immediately identifiable by their posting style. There are certainly more - but these are off the top of my head, based on recent postings.

Too bad we can only pick one. I'll start with a vote for Nota for charming uniqueness and a close second to JP for making words dance. PB would be third for being a thought provoking PIA.

edit: JP is Overpaid Slacker for those looking to review his work....

I always feel like Nota is posting in Haiku...

I voted for Tabs because he doesn't give a $hit what anyone of us thinks... which is as it should be.

Some of you guys take this Internet thing WAY too seriously IMHO.

For that matter some of you guys take what other people think way too seriously. YMMV

scott..

Even worse, some take things far too personally and every post not agreeing with their position is an insult or at the very least, a threat. The type A personality at work.

For my money Jack Olson's writing is superb. It's not fair, since he is a professional, but look at how everything he writes comes out clean, with as few words as possible, and is easy to read.

Things that are easy to read don't seem hard to write, but that's the sign of a good writer; the writer does the work to make it easy on the reader. Jack conveys meaning with his sentence length, choice of words and punctuation. I write professionally in a different field, but I aspire to write as simply and communicate as well as Jack.

Tabs is the only name there I recognize (fastpaste doesn't count because cutting and pasting isn't writing). So I vote for him.

For his style I am still grasping, but for his content I like reading tabs. I've learned quite a lot from his posts.

Runner-up for me would be fastpat, sometimes a bit strident but distinct and interesting views. I find myself agreeing sometimes, even if he's more of a black-and-white guy vs my shades-of-gray.

Joeclark and Purrybonker are one and the same. That's why they're both on my ignore list.

All have chops but I'm a fan of TABS - a fine mix of being well read and as crazy as rabid ferral cat (knows his buffets and bullets to boot!).

Sorry, But I propose a write-in candidate in the person of Milt.
Straight from the hip. No BS, says what he wants and shuts up.

The rest are wannabes.
