Star wars geeks and life is so unfair

It's "STAR WARS" day here at the museum and all the geeks are showing up in costume. I have discovered two disturbing and bazaar factoids.
1. In there regular cloths they look alarmingly normal.
2. Most of the guys have hot girlfriends assisting them.
Now all my life I thought to meet hot chicks I should... play in a rock band or.... ride a motorcycle or... drive a Porsche.

And now I find out all I had to do was buy a Darth Vader outfit.

Life is so unfair

Where do they get this stuff anyway?

To make things even more surreal they are using the conference room across the hall from my desk so I can hear all their conversations as they get ready to go out on the floor.

Just when I though my life couldn't get any weirder.

By comparison the NASCAR race I'm going to tomorrow should be relatively low key.

Not that I would know.... A lot of these guys make their own costumes. The howto's are on the various websites. The suits can turn out to cost a lot of money to make and subsequently sell.

It's just the human abstaction, it doesn't matter what it is.

You make [something] up, it becomes popular because it's new, the men follow the chicks, and the money follows both. ie:Car racing around and around in a circle, animal/human fighting, groups using a sports object, trivia, stategy games, etc..

The rules change, the competition is the same.

The saying that Fanstasy is for those who can't handle reality is false.
It should be "Reality is for those people who can't handle Fantasy" - like my wife, for instance.

I've been doing Sci-Fi conventions and SCA for over 20 years now, and you'd be amazed at some of the chicks that show up there. Sure, some are fat nasties, but some are mind-blowing. And..they'd blow your mind, too. Nothing wrong with hot, horny chicks in Cheescake armour!

One more comment: Star Trek is directly responsible for much of the technology we have today, like Cell Phones and such.
I highly reccomend to watch a show called How Star Trek Changed the World

A few years back, I went to a WWF event(free tickets). I also wanted to know why so many goof-balls find this entertaining.

The crowds weren't as toothless as I had imagined. As a mater-of-fact it was family friendly. I was impressed with the whole operation.

The two thing that I will always remember are;
1. In those days I was in really good shape so I understood what kind of commitment it takes to look like the "Wrasslers". I thought to myself how many of those guys will be dead in 10 to 15 yrs because of the drugs. Human are not designed to carry that much muscle-mass.

2. As I was walking thru the crowd, I bumped into 2 dudes (mid-30s) that were dressed up like Hulk Hogan, words were exchanged.

As I was about to to say something that would have taken our"discussion" to a different level, some fat "nut" walked infront of us dressed in a full Klingon outfit. He had the headpiece and all the other garb on, the problem was that nothing fit(including his headpiece). His outfit was 2 sizes too small!!!

All of us were so dumbfounded by this mook, that we had to laugh. I could see in their faces , they were thinking the same as I, "Who let the Star Trek nut in here"?

I apologized and so did they and we walked it off.

It still makes me smile that I was going to get into a fight with 2 Hogan clones but it was broken up by a poorly dressed, fat-ass Klingon.

What is really scary is the fact that lots of these geeks make an incredible amount of money (hence the girls). Do you really think pencil-necks would get girls without money?

Most girls want to see a big black guy's lightsaber. +1 on the Darth idea.

OK, I admit it, I'm a Sci-Fi geek, I don't dress up in costumes or anything, buy really enjoy those types of movie. I do have a Darth Vader helmet, a Don Post Studios one;

http://www.hotad.com/monstermania/2002/donpoststudios/

but didn't get it because of a Star Wars wanna-be, but because when my PCA region did our first Club Race, one of the concours weenies dubbed us drivers as The Dark Side and I went with it. As a matter of fact, another region holds a The Dark Side DE as they had the same type of weenies.

I used to, but not any more. My Ex and I made some pretty stunning costumes, one of the notable ones being a take on the Tim Curry costume from the old movie "Legend" with Tom Cruise.
Tim played the Prince of Darkness.

I looked very much like this:

But, I wore leg extensions that gave me about 1.5 foot tallker stance, and turned my heel into a reverse-higned, goat-hoofed leg. In the chin peice was a microphone, which connected to a belt-pack guitar FX processor, and linked to a small, powerful speaker that was hidden.
It made me sound positively evil

I needed a staff to walk stable, which was topped with a decrepid looking skull.

Ok, so that's what you look like, but what did you look like when you put the costume on!??

Sorry, couldn't resist...
