Whats Howie's spin on this bit of news?

I've posted before about my dislike for Howie, but since I don't listen, I'm interested on how he is spinning the latest bad news about his company. Yes, he made out like a bandit. Too bad the investors and the company went down the toilet paying him.

My prediction is that in a few years the satellite radio thing will go the way of 8 track tapes and the phonograph. Obsolete technology, both companies will die out completely.

I've not devoted much time to Howard, any share of the blame for the demise of sat radio belonging to him is deserved. The concept had other problems, the ipod growth no doubt a major one. None of my kids buddies (HS seniors) subscribes but they all have some type of MP3 player.

Here is my spin.

Didn't the stock market just take a huge dive across the board?

Sirius was outselling XM this past year almost 2 to 1 and was on a fast track to overtake and outsell them fully. Not only because of Howie but because its programming is way better. I know die hard XM fans that switched over because, as the sheepishly admitted, Sirius has a better selection.

These guys come out of the woodwork whenever there is a smidgen of bad news and iam it straight at Howard. There was another huge newsstory last week that Howard fell from #2 to #15 on the most influential talkshow personalities list.

When he was #2 it was never news, and the list was never news. When he was #15 the list was suddenly very important.

I hate testicular radio and cannot live without my Sirius, I will waste a few extra minutes to pull the unit from one car and move it to the next if I am driving more than 5 minutes.

I do not have the patience to fart around with an Ipod, load it with songs and make sure it charged.

BTW - The article came out the day after the market took a dive.

Howie probably has not seen it and was off Friday so I am sure he will have a "spin" on Monday. I'll let you know, unless you listen more than I do?

"Radio industry magazine Talkers reported this week that Stern's annual ranking among peers had dropped to #12 this year from #1 last year. Since his audience on satellite radio is a 10th what it was over the air, his influence has shrunk dramatically. "

If anything XM was doing it the right way, cultivating a small segment to gradually grow. Sirius looked for a shortcut by the totally insane payment to Stern and the NFL network. Now there fighting over a small piece of the pie that isn't growing rapidly. XM was forced to compete with their arsenal. I've had Xm for 5 years and it was fine the way it was.

Yes and last year when he was #2 it was a non news item the list was not imprtant. This year its the most important list inthe world.
