Nutty. You're right, the lawyers (in the U.S.) would have a field day. Warms your heart that they obviously don't have the same litigious society we do.

It's interesting that they still have "bombsights" in Japan. It flush types were pretty good, but the old fashioned ones were pretty awful.

The Japanese notion of public indecency is radically different than in America. It's quite common to see men relieving themselves in public in Japan, along the roadside, in drainage ditches, and elsewhere.

Yup. I remember walking around one quiet and beauiful night in a side neighborhood around Hikone, and having 5-6 pumped Bushido-type guys slam open a door and start pissing loudly in the alley.
Needless to say I managed to find anyother way around.

Not unique to Japan though Pat.
I remember a time on a busy street in downtown San Fransisco when this drunk chick asked me and a friend to block while she pissed in a sewer pipe.
It went alright untill my A-hole [edit:friend] started yelling "PISSER" mid-steam.

Your A-Hole can yell "PISSER"? I wish I can teach mine to do that!

The "humor" comes from the fact that a large part of their culture is based on the fear of being embarrassed or standing out in any way. All normal people have the fear of being embarrassed, but the Japanese take it to another level.
