Poll: Should FastPat be let back in?

love or hate? what do you think?

notfarnow 03-14-2007 05:28 AM

Didn't vote, because I don't know what he did to be banned.

Jeff Higgins 03-14-2007 05:30 AM

I think he should be allowed back. Of course that is rntirely up to the owner and moderators of this forum, and I notice they are not the ones asking.

deathpunk dan 03-14-2007 05:31 AM

I dunno
I'm a raging leftist on many issues, but I support Israel...

I'm also a Yankee who thinks the rebel south can f#ck off.

lendaddy 03-14-2007 05:35 AM

Depends on what he did or if he's actually banned at all.

TerryBPP 03-14-2007 05:38 AM

Aside from his politcal views he's a good guy. I'd like too know the reason as well.

thrown_hammer 03-14-2007 05:44 AM

I don’t think he is banned. I think this is a desperate cry for help. If anything it seems lately his posts have been less inflammatory than in the past. Maybe the mods will clear this up.

legion 03-14-2007 05:44 AM

I tried to send him a PM. I got some message about PM's being disabled either by choice or by administrators...

Political views or not, when an admin tells him to stop and he then starts a fight with them (Scott in the office) its like throwing gas on a fire. We all know who is going to win.

If he did something silly (or stupid) again its not like he was not warned. If he comes back under a new name its not like it will be hard to pick his posts out of the group.

Good guy? I keep hearing that and he very well may be a very nice guy in person. Bet that most of us are nice in person. That said, I do not advocate the return of the Civil War, violent takeover of the US Govt nor killing of American soldiers and feel that most patriotic Americans and PP members might agree.

RickM 03-14-2007 06:40 AM

Z stated in an other thread that he was banned for repeated personal attacks.

thrown_hammer 03-14-2007 06:47 AM

I think Pat paid Z to make that statement. This is obviously a conspiracy. I am off to find an article to cut and paste that backs me up…

Believe that Nostatic is either in or on his way to Penang, hopefully to watch the Formula One race.

If he is on the grassy knoll he must either have a very good lens or is hooked up with a intel satellite!

kach22i 03-14-2007 07:10 AM

Personal attacks ?

Those happen every day in this forum, must of been a personal attack against a moderator maybe even in a PM or e-mail.

Just guessing, however I've seen one guy get banned here for acting up in Rennlist - not kidding.

Agreed. Must have missed something.

If Mul had been banned back when he started "personal attacks", he wouldn't have been around long. Maybe that's the point though... not allowing things to get to that level.

As for him being a nice guy, I have seen instances where he was having very heated political debates with XYZ, and then posted in other threads offering very civilized and kind words to the same XYZ characters. I'm not sure that was always reciprocal.

Either way, I'm not judging anything until I know what happened.

I have been personally attacked far more brutally by people who are still around than I ever was by (or ever saw from) FastPat.

:D :D

seriously tho' . . .the mod's do a pretty good job at keeping disruptive players at bay. I imagine that they will give fastpaste another chance . .. he has shown the ability to (try to) adapt and change. Recently, he has gone from all paste, all the time to Pat's contorted reality show w/ a few attempts at humor. --I think-- . .. his cowbell still may need a bit of tuning. ;)

Same here. I have seen, and been the object of, far more vitriolic attacks than Pat ever mustered. Many that come to mind attack my religious beliefs, and those of others. Not that that bothers me, nor would I ever complain to anyone about it; just pointing that out.

One of our moderators is a Christian. Attacks on Christians and Christianity seem to happen completely unfettered. It seems no one is bothered by them enough to complain, nor is our Christian moderator bothered by them enough to take action.

Our other moderator is not a Christian; his personna here is more of an avowed liberal. Not that the two positions are mutually exclusive (witness Superman), but there does seem to be a divide on PPOT along those lines. The last couple of "high profile" bannings on PPOT have been of staunch conservatives or libertarians, vehemently opposed to most liberal positions. Hmm...

What does this say? One conclusion that could be drawn from our admittedly small sample is that you are more likely to get banned by spouting conservative vitriol than by its liberal counterpart. Or maybe it says our liberal contributors are more likely to complain when their feelings get hurt. Or that maybe they are a little less tolerant of opposing viewpoints, and quicker to wield the big stick to cut them off. Maybe our dysfunctional little micrcosm of real life, known as PPOT, is closer than we think... I'm just sayin'...

Jim Richards 03-14-2007 08:36 AM

I disagree Jeff. :p

Anyway, in my opinion, your only saving grace is your support for MFI and being Irish (yeah, I got some of that). :D
