Anyone else burn their socks yesterday?

Stunk up the fireplace, just for old time's sake.

Boat shoes only 'till fall for some.

Not for me anymore, unfortunately.

Is this a tradition somewhere? Not familiar with it.

I can imagine burning clothing/textiles smells pretty foul though - lots of dyes and stuff.

It's a boater's tradition. For me it goes back to boyhood days with gramps in MD. I was never there for it, but he would "share the moment" if he happened to be with us on the first day of spring.

Rite of spring. Live-ons burn their nasty winter socks and go without 'till the fall. The story goes something like that.

I burned an old pair of woolens (trying to minimize chemical hazzards) this year in memory.
