That's the idea, Randy!
Actually with the scalpel-less technique you just pinch the vas between the loose skin and tear the skin with a blunt clamp. Scalpel-less ain't blood-less. I always crack up when patients say "Are you gonna use the LASER, doc?" As if a laser would involve some kind of magical seamless, bloodless, painless cut. A white-hot tungsten butter knife would be about the same as most surgical lasers. |

Just a word of caution....I had mine done a number of years ago....the doctor did not want to wait until the anaesthetic took effect, I felt every slice of the scalpel....believe me...it was horrible.
Then I did not wait enough quiet time, the thing got infected, on antibiotics and required to spend as much time as possible with my knees elevated and apart...and yes, let the air at it. You can still see the scars. Then I failed 3 tests in a row, they were almost ready to go in for a retry when the 4th test came in without wigglers.....it has been fine for 18 years now. TAKE IT EASY...learn from my experience. Dennis |
The second day is gonna hurt. Tight fitting undies, ice and some meds and you'll be back on top in no time.
|
Len,
I am obviously NO expert here (wrong set of equipment for starters!)...most of our friends who have had the big V were all advised to wear 2 pair of tight fitting undies. Bit more support where needed I think...and they were all fine within a couple of days no matter which procedure they went with :). Oh and keep the kids AWAY from you - Mike's brother had his done when his yougest was a toddler. Boisterous little guy who loved to lunge into Daddy's lap - you get the picture   |

len, the conflicting report is you're doing the icing. Get one of Joe's girls to change out the ice pack...the healing will take longer that way and I'm sure a lot more fun....
|
ice it in 20 minute stints. don't want any frost bite down there...
|
Glad I did it. When you want it you just hop on, no other worries.

I'm on day two and feeling no pain yet. The boys are pulled up so tight from the icing I think their stuck to my spine. |
I had a doctor who had recently moved from India do mine. The first mistake I made was not to shave the nads. One of his nurses used a blade and that was not cool. The doctor said he'd been in the military in India and used to do hundreds a day. These guys would get a free transistor radio for having it done. He told me to take it easy that day and I should be fine. He said he'd heard of guys playing tennis the next day. At the time I was a hard core runner and had already missed one day so the next day I went for my usual 8 mile run. It started raining about haflway through and by the time I got home it felt like my nuts were dragging the ground. They were about the size of grapefruit and I had to go have the fluid drained. Then the doctor told me he was kidding about anyone playing tennis. Geez. I never did go back in to see if I was good to go and didn't tell my wife for several years. She of course said what if?

Reading this has made me sore...

Do not ejaculate for at least 4 days, sure you will be horny, but, it will feel like the moment they severed the line.
After having mine done, A freind, you know the one who is always there to make you feel better, said: "Dude, you are such a wuss. Real men jog home after a vasectomy." |
man... I don't know whether to be anxious about getting it done or fear it from this read. Just had our second kid and that's enough for us. One boy, then one girl, million dollar family they say but I've yet to see a dime:D I'm 39 this June and wife is 37, we feel we are to old to have more plus don't want any more. I believe in a good reason to get it done not just so you don't have to worry about knocking some broad up relying on her being on the pill.
I do have one concern that maybe I'm just paranoid about. When I get old like 60+ is there a chance this will play a factor in getting prostrate cancer or some other illness because you not flushing out the swimmers anymore? It just seems bad to stop getting something out of you body that it's disigned to do. I realize the body will break it down from what I've heard being protien, just makes me wonder. Guess I'll have to ask the Doc when it comes time. |

I iced it for two solid days and my doc said that was 95% of the battle. I did break one rule today though, we'll see if it haunts me. |
