Had the big V today.

Went the scalpel-less route and all is well so far. My appointment was for 9:30. I got there 10 minutes early and checked in. I was back on the road home at 9:42!!!!

Go home and put a icepack on it. Stay there tonight, tomorrow and maybe move around on Sunday afternoon.

Push being active before Sunday at the earliest and you will end up with what is called "big ball syndrome" and pain like you cannot believe.

This is consistent with what I have heard. This is not the time to be a hero/toughguy.

Yep, been doing the frozen peas and corn all day, but I need to work this weekend. I'm hoping tomorrow night but will wait till Sunday if I think I should.

The main problem is that for most it feels fine after a day. If you try then to act normal the area will swell and put you down for sure. Have a friend who found out the hard way and it was not funny... at least for him!

Len, if you need to work at a desk or on a computer or such then thats fine but moving around is what seems to hurt the situation. Find something to do while sitting down and take at least a day and a half off.

Had the same procedure a few years ago. Virtually pain-free. Just like you, I had it done on a Friday and basically sat around the house all weekend in my robe or a pair of loose shorts. Go Commando as much as possible!!!

The other guys have five the best advice...don't exert yourself and by Monday you'll feel like the old you.

Of course, that doesn't mean you should start exerting yourself right away on Monday either. You'll know when it's time.

Be sure to let all the girls know you can't knock 'em up...and take the test samples in while still in the condom. Female lab workers LOVE it when you do that.

Interesting, my doc told me to wear tight fitting undies. I think he said the sack shouldn't hang or stretch, but I imagine every doc has his theories.

I take it your married because If you even bring this issue up to a woman its instant "wow your a selfish jerk".

lendaddy 03-23-2007 06:50 PM

Oh yes. married w/two boys (1 & 3).

Porsche-O-Phile 03-23-2007 06:52 PM

How do you figure? I'm thinking about getting it done - why would it be considered "selfish"? If anything, I'm looking out for someone else's interest too.

tonypeoni 03-23-2007 06:55 PM

Reminds me, a guy at work (M3 nut) is going to have this done behind his wife's back. I guess she goes to stay with her sister in Florida every year for a week. I'm still thinking she will be able to tell but I know nothing about this. Do you have to have your Wife's signature or something?

lendaddy 03-23-2007 06:57 PM

I don't think it's selfish, perhaps short sighted but I can understand the reasoning.

Back to the bag:D Another question I'm getting conflicting answers on is the icing routine. I have been told both:

Ice it constantly for the first day or two, as much as possible.

and..

Ice it on and off in 20 minute cycles for the first day or two.

Which is it?

Just bring this subject up with your GF and see what happens. I've learned the hard way to steer clear of this.

They ask if you're married and they want to see a woman check the "I agree" box on the form, but it would be easy to fool them.

But....anyone that would do that shouldn't be married anyway.

Also women get off on the fear of pregnancy. I don't why but its very true if your clipped they think its because you wouldn't stay with them if something happened. Its a commitment thing.

:) Just a couple punctures. No stitches or even a band aid, it's so small it doesn't even bleed (beyond an initial drop or two).

BS on all that 'careful advice'. Go out and f' like a mink. Beer will cure the pain later ;-) Be the Dog you were born to be !!

  This exists now? Wow, goes to show how out of touch I am. I had mine about six weeks after my now-23 year old daughter was born in 1982. There was most definitely a scalpel involved!

Afterward, we went over to visit my parents and to have dinner, play cards, etc. My son, who was only about 15-16 months old at the time was sort of standing/walking along the edge of their coffee table in the very shaky tenuous way that toddlers do and started to fall. I was sitting there with my feet elevated and I reacted. I lunged up to catch him as he fell to keep his face from hitting the table edge and I felt a hot rip in the "junk area". It hurt but went away fairly quickly and I thought I was fine. I got home later and went to change for bed. When I took off my pants, I was blood from waist band to upper leg. I had torn a stitch completely. All turned out well, but it scared the hell outta me.
