Too bad - cool car. Never really had enough low end torque but an 8000 red line sure is sweet.

9000 when it first came out, and then when they bumped the engine up from 2.0L to 2.2L I think they lowered the redline to 8500.

I considered one, but I don't fit very well. My left knee gets stuck between the arm rest and steering wheel every time I use the clutch. The Miata has more interior room. Other than that, pretty cool cars.

Before I bought my Porsche, I was seriously considering getting into one of those. I'm glad I made the decision I did, but they are still great cars. Kinda like a Miata that has been to special forces training.

Sad news that it's ending. Along with Acura giving up on the NSX replacement...

It would be a great car to do a modern day cobra out of...one could place a z06 corvette motor in it. It would need to go on a diet first.

Test drove one before deciding on my Mercedes SLK. Fun but a real dog until about 4,000 RPM or so. Having to drive around at 4-6 grand to have any sort of fun would get old real quick, not to mention pissing off the popo and probably everyone else around. At least the SLK has torque.

I'm just not big on the high reving 4 concept. I feel like I'm flogging it all day just to get anywhere.

It will run circles around your 88 911 stock for stock in the handling dept.

Of course when you test drive one, you put your foot in it and the thing doesn't seem to move. Drive one for a couple of weeks and really drive it normally and don't drag race it at lights. I shift at 4-5000 rpmwith 9000 red. It gets up there quick and I am not pushing it at all. just driving normally. You don't even hear it. I am always ahead of oll the cars coming out of the lights by 4-5 car length when I go and upshift to 3rd.

I'm also sorry to see this car go. I was all set to buy one in '06 and thought I should test drive a Miata before I made the final decision. I'm glad I did, as the Miata had torque all over the S2000, got better gas mileage, lower insurance, etc. I did give up some handling and ultimate horsepower, but I don't regret the decision as this would be my commuter car. Still, I'd like to own one of these someday.
