Number or Name

What do you see? Do you honestly care who someone is if they dont make big $. I know that back during my high school/college years no one cared who I was hell I couldn't even get a GF! Within the last 4 years I've started to make pretty good $ and now have almost enough friends to count on one hand. Heck my sister even called me up 2 months ago (normally I never hear from her but once a year) and said she had someone that wanted to meet me next thing I know I go from having no GF to having a beautiful GF. So yeah I think money makes people see you different.

In part, yes. However, some of the most charming and charismatic people I have met had neither a pot nor a window but at the same time some of those with the most in physical $$$ assets were among the most self-centered and boring people (IMHO) on the face of the planet. Most people (thankfully) fall between the two extremes.

If, in your life you have enough TRUE friends to count on one hand, you are in the minority. Most people are not real friends, just someone you know who in a few years will be replaced by someone else. Folks who like you just because you have a few bucks are....you get the point.

I understand what your saying. I don't believe in true friends. A friend to me is someone to go to the bar with on a Thursday night. I think in todays me first society you can't ask for more than that.

Phew. Good thing I make no money. Don't have to worry about these sorts of problems.

Do you think maybe having money has made you more confident? Maybe before you were just a broke introvert and now that you have money you are a wild and crazy guy. That attracts em too. Hell I've been broke most of my life, but as a musician I have seen more a$$ than a toilet seat.

Na, still the same looser my sister set me up with the chic and the 512 has major "wow" factor. People at work start asking me about it. I'm still the same looser its everyone else that changed lol. Ill take this fake life over what I had before though how many nights in a row can you stay home and watch COPS?

It is how you present yourself, if you come across as confident, then it doesn't matter if you have $10 or $10 million. I get along well with most, when friends come into town, and we do the drinking tour, I take them to my private club on the river down to the bar/package store that reminds most of the bar in the original Walking Tall movie, everyone has fun, but always seem to comment that where ever we go, my drink is waiting on the bar without me ordering, and different from bar to bar

It is all how you carry yourself, now that being said, my CPA's girlfriend(she is in her mid 20s) has friend that I thought was cute, but I was told that she wouldn't be interested in me since I own a beat up old truck, didn't matter how many or what Porsches I own, since I own an old truck, she would never he interested. LOL

I do believe in true friends, although they are rare. Keep looking. You have plenty of time. Without them, life can be shallow and meaningless.

Well I know people who have had to work for their money and they are the real deal. But the people who married into it or are born into are generally azzwipes. If,and when people are attracted to you after you make real money just be wary of their motives I say. Like when I travel on business to poorer countries. The younger ladies there find me ,and my relative wealth very attractive. Fortunately I look into the mirror every morning and REALLY see whats there. More and more I find my Father staring back.

When I was working as a grunt for Buster Crabbe pools, the rich people treated us like worms, but the blue collar guy that finally saved up enough for a pool treated us nice. Like the wife would have coffee for us every morning, or she'd make cookies for us and so on. Rich people barely even said hello.

The friends I have made in the last 5 years (as I started to accumulate wealth) compared to the 5 years previous (when I didn't have a pot tp iss in) cannot compare.

My TRUE friends befriended me when I was a zero. The ones that have tried to be my friends in the last 5 years will easily do more harm than good.

If you think you have better friends now that you have money you better step back and take a real good look at who they are.

The biggest a-holes in the world, I have met in the last 5 years. My true friends I met when I was young and poor and they became my friends because of who I was inside not who they needed to be near in order take money from me.

Refer back the the Genteel thread, while I have the money to roll with the wealthy, I hate them and everything they stand for. Yes, I go to their Hotels/Resorts, I eat in their 5 star resteraunts, but when the day ends? I am just a blue collar guy that likes to treat himself to something nice from time to time. ( BTW - I know whick fork to use and proper etiquette, my grandfather taught me many years ago, as he felt a true gentelman should know such things.)

My daily life is mostly comprised of digging in peoples yards looking for property corners while the owners come along and treat me like I am a 2nd class citizen not knowing I dine in the same places and sleep in the same hotels as them.

Sometimes I pretend to be just an employeee when a homeowner talks to us just to see how they will treat me. Its comical.

I used to own a business and would sometimes go to our suppliers to pick up items. My partner and I did much of the same work as our 25 employees. We had a vendor whose salesmen and warehouse guys generally treated me OK, but with little respect. One guy in particular reminded me of people I knew in the Navy who'd pick on new recruits. I swear he once told me speak up and stand up straight.

One day I ordered a large quantity of an odd item and the same guy questioned whether I knew what I was talking about. He insisted on calling the office to make sure it was OK to place this order. I told him to go ahead. The look on his face was priceless when the office manager told him I owned the company and could buy whatever I wanted. His attitude was completely different from then on. Yeah, I could have made a fuss early on, but I find that people who demand respect are often the least deserving of it.

I've positioned myself financially to where I have a good deal of discretionary time for idle pursuits.

Money only makes the people you *don't want in your life* see you differently.
