Tony? Glad you didn't do the deed...hey, we've all been dumped. I too went through a long down time after a broken engagement, had dark thoughts. This was long ago, her brother was doing his 2nd tour in Vietnam. I half expected him to kick my ass when he got back. In a strange twist, he saved my bacon. He & I got smashed, and he told me just how fortunate I was...wow, he shoulda known, he grew up with her.

Tony,

Most things happen for the good (I believe), better earlier than later. She sounds a little unstable to do as you described. Get on with your life and look forward to all the good things that are going to happen to you.

Fishcop,

You have to maintain a balance. I quit my last job as 4-5 nights a week for 5 years away from my family. Got lots of money but no life. Decided I would never put myself through work hell again. Yes worry about it and put extra hours in occassionally but not to the extent of forgoing all the important things.

I did exactly that for about 5 years, the whole "I don't get paid for initiative, enthusiasm or ideas", but that got me nowhere; no favours, leg-ups, or development. Don't get me wrong, I was quite happy to plod along but I couldn't afford to own a Porsche

Given that I have come a lot further on in my career than back then, maybe it is time again to consider the whole "work to live; not live to work" thing again...

It's true, only work and women give you this kind of heart-burn!
