Agree and disagree. I have to give this one the 'ol man' test. The man I respect more than anyone one Earth is my Dad. Would he ever refer to anyone as a Knappy Haired Ho? Nope. Not part of who he is. Now would he care one way or the other? Prolly not - he would just chuckle, shake his head smilling and say 'jeeze' then move on.

I suggest we should show others respect but also have some ballz not to get too bent outa shape when someone says something stupid.

Make those girls show you what CDs they own, find out if their favorite shows are on bet, and I'm willing to bet they call each other "Ho". They weren't hurt by what Imus said, but their action, as well as those by al & jj show why the black community is so far behind everyone else.

What about the Black Professor from North Carolina (a southern university) that was giving a speech in which he stated all white people should be killed, exterminated.........???

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6477556933269994561

If they don't listen to rap CDs, or watch bet and don't speak gangster, then they might be hurt and what about the white chicks (seems there were a few in some pix on the news) they were targeted too:mad:
Don Imus: the good-natured racist
The shock jock was only mimicking rappers and comedians who make millions at the expense of black women

Well...we do not know what the Rutgers women's bb team calls
themselves to each other....what kind of music that they listen to
etc. We can only speculate....

And most of us do not know what it is like to be African American
in this society,...and we can only speculate what their culture is like
based on what we think we know or have seen in the media or
movies.

What Imus said was inappropriate for a national radio host, or
even someone broadcasting on a local level.

Its not about "wussified" either.... it was inappropriate thing to
say, and very stupid for someone in Imus's position to make.
So, he pays the price, rightfully so. But he will bounce back.
This is america after all.

onlycafe 04-11-2007 10:24 PM

perhaps all the douchebags could just shut the hell up.
i include don imus, howard stern , and of course al sharpton and jesse jackson, any and all other douchebags are welcome to participate.
please?

Mark Wilson 04-12-2007 04:48 AM

There is no longer a reason to watch MSNBC.

Are you trying to tell us that movies that focus on a certain segment of culture or life style are falsified or made up? If that is what you are trying to say then you are wrong. What movie that falsely depictd anything has ever been successfully? Movies become classic in their time b/c they SO ACCURATELY depict things. Lets take the late 80s early 90s Crips vs Bloods scenario and compare it to a movie that portrayed this sort of lifestyle like the movie Colors did. Are you trying to tell us that this was a false presentation of that lifestyle. I hear this all the time, "You just believe what you have seen in the movies"... so the movies aren't life as we know it? American Graffiti DIDN'T accurately depict the central California cruising scene as it existed in the infancy of the California car culture? The Passion of Christ DIDN'T accurately depict the crucification of Jesus as it is reported in the Bible? Animal House DIDN'T accurately depict frat life as it existed in that time? Whatever???

berettafan 04-12-2007 05:46 AM

Afro-americans. That phrase is turning back the clock so fast it's creating a breeze.

If you refuse to assimilate to a reasonable level you are doomed to being considered a second class citizen. Not saying it's right or wrong, but most folks have figured this out.

cairns 04-12-2007 06:08 AM

"You don't get it? Someone was hurt. Do you think the only way to hurt someone is to poke their eye out?"

Good God. You're the one who doesn't get it. Hurt my *ss.

Don't you think it's ironic that on the very same day Imus was fired charges were dropped against the Duke athletes? Calling someone a name is much less serious than smearing someone with false rape charges, no? Dat's some serious hurt bro. Expensive hurt too. Where do these kids go to get their reputation back?

But after hyping the crap out of this when the smell of blood was fresh, the media is burying the aftermath and their own mistakes and racism (yes racism)- you will NOT see hour long tear jerking cover stories on those white boys.

Too bad we can't fire Time magazine, Jesse and all the other hos who jumped ugly on this one. Crikey we can't even request let alone get an apology. Where's your outcry over this issue?

And you don't think it's racism? Try flipping it over- wouldn't someone who gave more favorable treatment to white boys rather than black girls considered a racist???

You PC pukes are the real hos.

kwm 04-12-2007 06:17 AM

Yhea and what about requesting that the stripper ho who accused them of the crime and the DA that kept pushing the issue for his own political gain be brought up on charges as well. It is more against the law to file a false report and to abuse your power position than it is for college guys to drink under age and hire strippers to come to their house.

Too bad we can't fire Time magazine, Jesse and all the other hos who jumped ugly on this one. Crikey we can't even request let alone get an apology. Where's your outcry over this one?

Yhea and wasn't Time Magazine sued when they posted a darkend mug shot of OJ b/c the Als and Jessies of the world called them out for it saying it made him look guilty (which he is of course).

stomachmonkey 04-12-2007 06:19 AM

The whole Duke mess rests squarley on the shoulders of the DA.

He wanted a certain result and steered the investigation as well as the "victim" in that direction.

The premise of the case, college sports team party that got out of control, was easily believable. My wife thought they were guilty from day one. It was an easy one for the DA to manipulate.

Thankfully for those guys the truth came out.

cairns 04-12-2007 06:31 AM

"The whole Duke mess rests squarley on the shoulders of the DA."

WRONG.

The DA just started it. The media, and the usual cast of black racists and white crybabys, ran with it. Do I have to quote Jesse on the issue for you?

The Gaijin 04-12-2007 06:34 AM

There is a good PhD thesis in here someplace. (There will be many silly ones...)

The chattering classes have always co-opted the manners and mannerisms of working class folks - and there are barely any left.. Besides rednecks there are no more white ethnics. They have all moved to suburbia. Hispanics are barely understood.

(This is the same all over the world, think of Bob Hoskins - who is not a Cockney.)

So there is the old standby. Black American culture has been mined for material since Al Jolson in blackface. Across the decades - think of all the white kids in love with jazz, rock & roll and now hip hop and rap.

Listen to what Imus said. How he said it. It was not in a middle class, middle age white man's voice. They were trying to co-op this culture they are not part of - to make a funny. To be entertaining. But they (Imus and his sidekick) are not twenty-something black rappers. The girls they were making fun of are college students and athletes.. They stepped over the line and now are in trouble.

So now they get fired, somehow Al Sharpton gets a feather in his cap and we - as a society learn little, if anything.

cairns 04-12-2007 06:35 AM

Very well said.

WHAT...............WHERE IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STRIPPER HO IN THIS THEN? She lied and initiated the whole mess. Are you THAT near-sighted?

Rick Lee 04-12-2007 07:08 AM

KWM, you're right. But the prosecutor could have ended this whole thing a year ago, whereas the "exotic dancer" (I love that euphemism) pretty much was done with the whole thing a few weeks into the drama.
