Did any of you worry about pregnancy or venereal disease? I had started taking birthcontrol pills a couple of months before (I went to an Irish catholic convent school!!!) but I wasn't concerned about disease! Nice boys like the ones I fancied didn't have diseases like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I promise, I taught my daughter different! The world seemed much more innocent when I was a teenager.

The "kids" behind me lived the AIDS situation. While I was in college (mid 80's), they started pushing safe sex, handing out condoms and dental dams. I seem to remember only using condoms with girls who weren't on the pill.

I got mono in college back in the 80's. One of the school doctors (quacks) thought I might have AIDS, what a dumbass. My future wife made me get tested before I got any, I guess she thought I'd been a bad boy. When I got tested, the nurse said as an upper middle class white heterosexual, your odds of catching it were almost zero.

The entire "AIDS is Everywhere" campaign was created to make it seem like a population wide epidemic when it Cleary hit 2 groups: Homosexual men and blood transfusion recipients.

In Africa, it is much more of a problem in the heterosexual community due to the very high level of regular VD. This opens you up for other infections.
