Thumbs up ALMS Long Beach LMP2 Results!

The LMP2 RS Spyders take positions 1, 2, 3 and 5 overall!

1 P2 Dumas/(Bernhard*) 74 Porsche / RS Spyder
2 P2 Maassen/(Briscoe*) Porsche / RS Spyder
3 P2 (Wallace*)/Leitzinger Porsche / RS Spyder
4 P2 Brabham/(Johansson*) Acura / ARX-01a
5 P2 Dyson*/(Smith) Porsche / RS Spyder
6 P2 Herta/(Franchitti*) Acura / ARX-01a
7 P1 (Capello*)/McNish Audi / R10 TDI
8 P2 Fernandez*/(Diaz) Lola / B06-43

Unfortunately the GT2 results weren’t as good…

Re: ALMS Long Beach LMP2 Results!

It may be time to start developing a Cayman-based GT2 car. The RSR's just aren't cutting it this year.

Got a ton of pictures of the RS in action - I'll try to get 'em uploaded later today or whenever I get some time. Pretty awesome.

Imagine a Cayman with an eight-cylinder engine - Carrera GT lite.

Yes, we can dream...

Find a wrecked Cayenne Turbo-S.

The prices are coming down. In a few years, I'd like to experiment with a turbo-V8-into-Boxster conversion - one of my "if-I-win-the-lottery-and-have-limitless-free-time" schemes.

The ALMS race was awesome! The Champ cars are a snooze by comparison. But, an hour forty minutes? That's not an ALMS race, that's warm up. They ought to at least run a next day segment.

And, if we could chase the Champ cars off, we could maybe add a mile to the track. Send those suckers over to the Queen Mary and back. Now that would be a great track!!

Yeah, what makes these cars so interesting to me is the constant passing of the different classes. Those GT drivers really have to be on their toes to move over just right. Of course, some nasty shunts have occurred when someone zigs when the car coming up expected a jag. A little room with some more passing zones make for better and safer racing.

They used to race this series at Phoenix and that was so stupid. It was a go-kart track for these cars. The whole course is contained with in the mile oval. Length is something similar to St Pete, but too tight.

The LMP 1 and 2 cars were on the steering bumps in the hairpin at LB. The GT's were a lot better in the tight stuff. Eventually, the Porsche GT 3 (it might have been Burgmeister) bumped Pirro's Audi turning him into the pylon. That corner could be redesigned with a slightly larger radius and not hurt a thing, IMHO. I suppose the similarity to the hairpin at Monaco is not lost on many.

That'd be fantastic. Actually the little piece over the bridge and over to Terminal Island is one of my "proving ground" spots for 951 mods. You can build up some decent speed there without any worry about pedestrians or traffic if you do it at the right time.

The RSRs are faster than last year, but ALMS has given the game away to ferrari.
They are tired of porsche and corvette winning and are soliciting new sex partners.
They gave them weight advantages, displacement, you name it. They are whores who will bend over for any new brand that wants to play and pay, just like they took it in the rear when pontiac showed up.

Still not nearly as bad as SCCA (Spoiled Children Crashing Automobiles). It's ultimately about who can spend the most $$$.
