Kano Kreen - anyone heard of it? Use it?
I paid a visit to a freind of mine the other day, an insanely intelligent local guitar amp builder.
We were discussing cars - the compression/leakdown on the 85 Carrera I picked up, his BMW, and his wife's car. He explained that awhile back, his wife's car was having major engine problems, and the mechanics said it would require a complete top end rebuild. Major buildup, lots of crud and stuff. He said he'd used someting called "Kreen" as an oil/fuel treatmnt for a short while, and took it back to the mechanic, who then started asking where they got the rebuild done, as the car was back running perfectly again. He now uses it religeously. We discussed Seafoam momentarilty. Anyone ever used this stuff? http://kanolabs.com/

Can't seem to access the website, but I have used their penetrating oil "Kroil", for years and love it. It's the best I have ever used.

I know, 10 year old thread.
Putting this Kreen stuff made by in my modified BMW e30 325i. Kreen is a thin green-colored solvent that smells good. I've used Kano's Kroil for years and don't have any strong feelings about it. Anyway, I was noticing a quart of oil use every couple of tank fill-ups in the BMW. But mainly want to thin my thicker summer oil for this unusually cold winter we're having. I put a pint in the tank, a pint in the oil. It's my relatively cheap but fun (very fun) daily driver. If it helps, I'll try in in my Carrera. All my vehicles suffer from repeated short trips. ![]()

I would probably use Auto RX first. It is a cleaner/detergent package and not a solvent.

With today's clean fuel and oil I wouldn't put anything stronger than techron in my engine.
I've watched these snake oils come and go for a long time, seems like a new one pops up ever 10 years. How many of these can you name? New engine/transmission flush! New oil additive! New type of spark plug! all BS. |
