Peter Jackson King Kong....

Am I the only one who thought this was utter crap?

Watched about 2 hours of it the other night and turned it off before the end. SOME of the special effects wer good, but other than that the characterizations, acting, writing(especially the dialouge(sp?)) were laughable.

Most ridiculous moments:
1. Jack Black refusing to drop the camera--even when being chased by a herd of dinosaurs.
2. The capt. of the steamer obviously wasn't very good--gets his boat stuck, risks his boat and crew for 1 woman, his crew allows the camera crew to lower a boat and row to the island without anyone stopping them, and then they go and chase them down, and he decides, hey let's get the woman back but I am going to risk my crew and it will be for 24 hours.
3. The cook(Gollum) was only missing a pegleg and parrot on his shoulder to encompass every 'I'm a salty seadog" cliche--he even had a popeye?!? and why would he wear his cooking apron when travelling into the jungle?
4. The brontosauras stampede--it definately makes more sense to keep running from the herd instead of hiding behind a rock and allowing them to pass by
5. The "dedicated" film crew--keep filming even though half of us are now dead.
6. The "sage black man" and "Jimmy" the idiot stowaway. These 2 characters and their dialogue were idiotic--sample
SBM:" Jimmy, the measure of a man is what he does in moments like this Jimmy. You got that Jimmy. Jimmy."
Jimmy: "Okay"
SBM: "Jimmy are you listening Jimmy. Jimmy"
7. The natives lived on an island with a giant ape and dinosaurs, but are scared of gunfire? Oh, and let's not shoot the natives-even though they bludgeoned members of our party and kidnapped another--just fire into the air and scare them.
8. And why wouldn't the captain have killed Jack Black for the multiple times he almost killed the crew/put them in danger?

Terrible, terrible movie....

So you wanted the movie about the giant ape to be more realistic?

Personally, I loved that movie. Entertaining, mindless escapism at its best. Sure glad I didn't de-construct it and wind up disgusted with it.

So what did you think of Spiderman? I'm calling bull***** on the whole thing...

i was prepared to dislike it because i generally don't like remakes. i paid good money to see it in a theater full of todays ill mannered, cell phone ringing, hats on sideways, loud talking during the show, young people. in spite of the company. i loved it. aside from the fact that for every minute of the original the remake used three minutes to say the same thing, it was visually stunning. normally i am not a fan of cgi, but they really did a good job.

for some early peter jackson, try "dead alive". hard to find, but jolly good fun [if you like flesh eating zombies].

I am all for suspending belief for entertainment value--(Big Trouble in Little China is a favorite of mine--and it makes no sense at all), but in K.K. everything BUT the ape/CGI totally sucked(except for Naomi Watts--she was smokin'). The acting/dialogue/direction was too distracting to enjoy the movie.

It didn't seem that great from the previews, so I never bothered to see it. I think PJ did a great job paring down the dozens of characters and side adventures in the LOTR into a cohesive, easy-to-understand story. Maybe he suffered from the age-old Hollywood problem: everyone around him started kissing his ass after one success, and he really thought he was putting something great together because he wasn't getting any real criticism.

I like it, but then I liked the remake with Jeff Bridges in it as well. It's not great but good entertainment for the 4 dollar rental, ( I purchased it) I like the way they gave K.K a personality with Gorrilla features. Remember this was supposed to be 1930's or so. I'm a sucker for the F/X factor love good special effects.
