A Bloomberg Anti-Gun Mayor Is Charged With Carrying Weapon By JILL GARDINER Staff Reporter of the Sun November 22, 2006 One of the members of Mayor Bloomberg's anti-gun coalition has pleaded to charges of illegally carrying a gun into a church, onto a college campus, and into a park. The mayor of Jackson, Miss., Frank Melton, is one of more than 100 mayors in the coalition Mr. Bloomberg and the mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino, created to push for stronger gun control laws. But, last week, Mr. Melton — who according to news reports, carries firearms at all times and has a reputation for being tough on crime — pleaded no contest to carrying a concealed gun on the campus of a Mississippi College School of Law. He also pleaded guilty to carrying a gun into a church and into a park, also illegal under state law. The first was reduced from a felony charge to a misdemeanor; the latter two were misdemeanors. More elitist snobbery. The powerful, wealthy, and influential want to continue to carry firearms, they just don't want us to have them. When will the public wake up and realize this is what a large part of "gun control" entails? God forbid the peasants be armed...

Much like they want their big SUVs...but don't want anyone else to have them?
It doesn't surprise me. Many of the most outspoken anti-gun celebrities have armed bodyguards.

As I've typed here before, the 2nd amendment does not give right. It is not about hunting or self defense. It is reaction to a concern that a government can get so powerful that it will disarm its own citizens to keep itself in power.
Remember, like the Sullivan law, gun control originally was about keeping guns out of the hands of the wrong people. And that was loosely defined as immigrants and negroes.

As a follow up to this thread, our Mayor pled guilty a few months ago to misdemeanor firearm possession (carrying on a college campus) and was fined.
However, when he and his bodyguards rolled up to a known crackhouse and tore it up ala "Walking Tall", his arch nemesis, the local DA, had him and his bodyguards indicted on 11 felony counts (burglary, conspracy, etc).
