Please Help some Kitties find a Home!!!
Went to a few shelters yesterday to see if Scrappy (who has been missing since Monday) was there, but no luck, a very hard thing, as some shelters are "kill" shelters, and one I checked that was just such:( and a cute little Momma and her 6 kittens where to be killed today), so, anyone want a kitten, all have been checked (you know I couldn't let them die) and are healthy and super cute. My cats won't let me keep them, but gave me the OK to save them:) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178316619.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178316664.jpg More pix to come!!

You're a good man, Byron.

Good work. My wife just rescued a young pregnant cat last month. She had 4 kittens. Only two survived. They are cute as can be. Luckily we've found homes for the kittens after they are weaned. We're keeping the mommy cat and getting her fixed.
|
you saved a whole little family.....good stuff :)
i've never really been a cat person.....but we adopted "ava" around christmas, shortly after she came down with something bad.....very lathargic etc.....after a vet visit she was on anti-biotics for 3 months.....twice a day, now she's fine :) we think the illness was from the previous foster families feeding of contaminated canned food.....so she wouldn't have had a chance if no one adopted her. she's nuts :D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178320857.jpg |
Who could turn and let these cuties die, other than my ex girlfriend could, but she was a real bi-polar b*tch  http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178321041.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178321063.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178321074.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178321087.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178321153.jpg

+1 and you have a PM

Good job Bell and Moses...and another tip of the hat to Byron. Both of our cats (neutered females) are also "unwanteds"...abandoned. All they ask for is food, shelter, and a kind touch.
NEUTER YOUR PETS! |
You are a good man. My wife is acquiring her (our, i guess) 4th cat, as one is attriting away due to a stroke. More to join the happy Holt compound of 3 dogs, numerous fish, etc.
|
Good job. Thanks for saving them.

I like the Fuchs view you gave them! :D I often wonder how hardened you would have to be to have the job of killing dogs and cats at one of those shelters. I know it has to be done, but I just can't imagine anyone doing a job like that. |
Beautiful animals! If I didn't already have two of my own I'd definitely be in for adopting. Great job on saving those! The world needs more people like you.
Both of my cats are adopted, BTW. |
Cats...:)
Our two were abandoned at our church five years ago as kittens. My kids wanted Dad (me) to go rescue them. I said no. About eight o'clock that evening it started to rain and thunder...I couldn't get the f'ing kitties out of my mind. Off my wife and I went. One literally jumped in the car, the other ran up a tree and parked in a deep indent. I thought my hand was going to be shreaded as I reached in. Nope. They both rule Casa de pis del pis to this day. I'm sorry I hesitated. |
Good on ya, Seahawk. We are down to one cat from four. All rescues.
If we ever have a pair of cats again they will be named "Pratt" and "Whitney". |
Thanks guys, they young at about 3 weeks old. I'm getting pix, but trying to let them adjust. They will have to be adopted through the local shelter; I'm just their surrogate daddy. All my cats are are indoor too, that is why I'm so puzzled about my missing Scrappy. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178325663.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178325674.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178325684.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178325699.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178325710.jpg

We ALL loved Dexters Lab! |
All of our cats have been pound rescues. I'm down to one these days (Milo), but the ex still has two. I'll likely get a second at some point, but have been doing too much traveling so far this year.
Good on ya for being a foster dad... |
Way to go, there is a reason I stay away from the shelters. Ours are "no-kill" but it is still hard.

Second, my wife did that job for several years. She started volunteering at the animal shelter in her hometown as a project for Girl Scouts when she was twelve. Started having to assist with euthanasia when she was thirteen. The reason she continued was because the good feeling of seeing the animals finding good homes, or being rescued from abusive homes was greater than the heartache of helping euthanise 20-50 animals a day (at the heaviest days in spring and fall). She stayed with them, and became an employee, until she was seventeen and had to quit when she broke a finger and the doctor said no work. To this day she still has issues stemming from what she dealt with there. She can't watch any of the animal cops shows on tv, she can't even watch the Purina adoption commercial without full on sobbing. The shelter provided counseling sessions, but you can't erase memories. I think it actually takes a very caring person to do that job. To look into an animal's eyes and talk to them and tell them you are sorry and they'll be in a better place while calming them for the injection, rather than just sticking them and being done with it. Not something I would ever wish on anyone. |
Byron,
You're a good man! Here's our Lil' Leo.... pic taken a few weeks after we brought him home . Now he's 1 and doing just fine. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178330635.jpg |
|
Byron, you've got a big heart. You did a very good thing there, and if karma has any bearing, you're probably in for some serious pussy. (And not the 4 legged variety). ;)
Two of our friends from the pound... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178333982.jpg |
Good job saving the cats. I just adopted these two. They crap like a herd of elephants......fill the litter box every day!

Really, I have had the week from hell and since all my cats are inside cats, and spoiled rotten (yes, I had a girlfriend tell me the cats or her, I said Good-bye ) turned up missing, I'm very puzzled, that is how I came across these little gems. My father always said nice guys finish last, and the mean never die, I was surprised that he passed at only 68. Guys, thanks for the kind word and keep your pix coming. The guy who built the engine for my 914-6GT clone and is building the tranny too (as well as building the Klub Sport & Brumos race engines) is a cat saver too, his latest, to replace ne that passed of old age just a week ago is a Seal Point that hippies (I'm not kiddy) abused. Getting "P" has never been, nor is a problem, most of my exes still call me back, finding new is easy, but finding one to have a complete relationship, now that has been my biggest challenge, as a few of my friends have asked Quote:

Forgot to mention, but hope you get Scrappy back sate & sound.
Our black one, rescued from a winter street as a kitten... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178339944.jpg |
Byron, hoping you find scrappy....and yeah, this is a bump as well.
Those kits need homes. |
Sorry to hear about scrappy... hope you find him.
I have two indoor cats and worry about them getting out. I had a party at my house to memorialize a friend that passed away and didn't know what to do with the cats. I am a bachelor and they are used to having free run of the house so they freak out if I lock them up in a bedroom. I decided to just let roam during the party... they pretty much hid under the bed the whole time scared of the loud drunken strangers. I got both cats at the shelter. Scupper, the arrogant independent boy cat who when he gets out runs down the stairs, makes the rounds sniffing the bushes in his yard, has a good roll in the dirt, then runs back up the stairs asking to be let back in. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178384859.jpg And Rhoda, the affectionate little princess who is on me like a wet blanket from the moment I enter the house. However if she gets out it is like trying to catch a greased pig! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178385009.jpg |
Byron,
Good luck finding your missing family member. I have heard of cats that stayed away for as much as 9 months before showing up at the back door again. On your rescue, a "well done" from:Fudge, Flossie, Tuxedo, Topaz, Joba, Jacob, Jasper and Gem. The dogs, Casey, Colby, Jasmine and Colleen put up with their cats but are nevertheless unimpressed. I guess you can't please everyone. (Yes, they are all shelter critters and other people's rejects. People piss me off sometimes. Les |
I got a call this morning from someone a few streets over who saw one of my posters, a black cat fitting Scrappy's description has been hanging out around their house. Well, they got him in a pet carrier, and I picked him up, but it wasn't Scrap:( So anyone want a a nice (a bit skittish right now) Black kitty :D ??
He is a very sweet cat, maybe a year old. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178510036.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178510051.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178510064.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178510073.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178510091.jpg When I took me recyclables (yes, I recycle) I heard a familiar meow, so I checked and what looks & sounded like Scrappy was under one of my 914s in the back yard, but he was very scared and ran off, but at least I now know he is OK :) but he still hasn't come in (he has been out for almost a week now) So I am leaving a door open & food on his window sill, so hopefully he will come back in soon. BTW, the momma & kittens are doing well, but will still need homes :D |
So many cats...too few homes. :(
|
I love cats, too. I've had them all my life.
Thanks for saving these guys. Good job. KT |
Wow, I'm glad you guys are so culturally different over there! Here in Australia most blokes won't admit to liking cats - it's 'unmanly'. I'm big enough that no one says that to my face though ;)
I've even come across blokes who brag about killing local cats :( My wife and I lost one of our cats 3 years ago. She just went missing and never came back. Unfortunately we live in a high paralysis tick density location, and in all likelihood she picked up one and never made it home. I hadn't cried since my father died 24 years earlier. Good on you Byron. I'm sorry we're so far away, or I'd ask Milly (our other cat) permission to bring one of your kittens home :) FWIW There is a direct correlation between animal cruelty and psychopaths. Nearly all of the world's worst humans started out being cruel to animals - and progressed from there. |
Great News!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Scrappy is back home, safe & sound!!!
But the other babies still need homes and wait until you see the new pictures!!!!!!! BTW, the Vet gave the little guy we thought might be Scappy a clean bill of health and is now known as Cayman :D |
I'm happy to hear your buddy is back home.
( did he say where he went? ) :D Looking forward to more kitty pictures. KT |
Congrats Byron. Glad to hear Scrappy's safe and sound. We have 4 "rescue" cats, and after seeing the pics, I know why I keep my Wife from viewing Pelican BBS, because then we'd have 3 more..:)
|
Well done Byron!
|
Glad to hear that Scrappy is back. I also wish that I lived closer, I would take one or 2 off your hands. I had a stray that I had for 2 years pass away not too long ago from feline leukemia....I never cried so hard in I don't know how long.....she was the most loving and friendly animal I ever had.
I hope that you find good homes for momma and her little ones. Good Luck |
We found these yesterday in an underground cable tray at the shop. The momma cat left them. There were 5, but one was dead so now there's 4. The picture's not that good since I didn't want to wake them. A girl in the shop is bottle feeding them. They're cute as can be and their eyes are just starting to open.
Anyone in Houston want a cat? Please! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178639280.jpg |
Trek, he didn't say, and boy was he upset, he has calmed down now, but has a few battle scars:rolleyes: The kittens gave me a scare, I couldn't find them, then, there they were hiding in the base of a chair a buddy built a while back http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178640567.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178640581.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178640595.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178640609.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178640627.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178640644.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178640665.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178640680.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1178640691.jpg

Good to hear Scrappy is OK...Now you can say "See what happens when you leave? More cats are lined up to take your place!"
