Thumbs up Please Help some Kitties find a Home!!!

Went to a few shelters yesterday to see if Scrappy (who has been missing since Monday) was there, but no luck, a very hard thing, as some shelters are "kill" shelters, and one I checked that was just such and a cute little Momma and her 6 kittens where to be killed today), so, anyone want a kitten, all have been checked (you know I couldn't let them die) and are healthy and super cute. My cats won't let me keep them, but gave me the OK to save them More pix to come!!

Good work. My wife just rescued a young pregnant cat last month. She had 4 kittens. Only two survived. They are cute as can be. Luckily we've found homes for the kittens after they are weaned. We're keeping the mommy cat and getting her fixed.

you saved a whole little family.....good stuff

i've never really been a cat person.....but we adopted "ava" around christmas, shortly after she came down with something bad.....very lathargic etc.....after a vet visit she was on anti-biotics for 3 months.....twice a day, now she's fine we think the illness was from the previous foster families feeding of contaminated canned food.....so she wouldn't have had a chance if no one adopted her.
she's nuts

Good job Bell and Moses...and another tip of the hat to Byron. Both of our cats (neutered females) are also "unwanteds"...abandoned. All they ask for is food, shelter, and a kind touch.

NEUTER YOUR PETS!

I like the Fuchs view you gave them!

I often wonder how hardened you would have to be to have the job of killing dogs and cats at one of those shelters. I know it has to be done, but I just can't imagine anyone doing a job like that.

Beautiful animals! If I didn't already have two of my own I'd definitely be in for adopting. Great job on saving those! The world needs more people like you.

Both of my cats are adopted, BTW.

Cats...

Our two were abandoned at our church five years ago as kittens. My kids wanted Dad (me) to go rescue them.

I said no.

About eight o'clock that evening it started to rain and thunder...I couldn't get the f'ing kitties out of my mind.

Off my wife and I went. One literally jumped in the car, the other ran up a tree and parked in a deep indent. I thought my hand was going to be shreaded as I reached in. Nope.

They both rule Casa de pis del pis to this day.

I'm sorry I hesitated.

Good on ya, Seahawk. We are down to one cat from four. All rescues.

If we ever have a pair of cats again they will be named "Pratt" and "Whitney".

Thanks guys, they young at about 3 weeks old. I'm getting pix, but trying to let them adjust. They will have to be adopted through the local shelter; I'm just their surrogate daddy. All my cats are are indoor too, that is why I'm so puzzled about my missing Scrappy.

All of our cats have been pound rescues. I'm down to one these days (Milo), but the ex still has two. I'll likely get a second at some point, but have been doing too much traveling so far this year.

Good on ya for being a foster dad...

Way to go, there is a reason I stay away from the shelters. Ours are "no-kill" but it is still hard.

Beth adopted the little one and I rescued the fuzzy one from the BMW shop where I used to work. 2 of my 4

First, good job Byron. Glad the shelter was willing to let you help out.

Second, my wife did that job for several years. She started volunteering at the animal shelter in her hometown as a project for Girl Scouts when she was twelve. Started having to assist with euthanasia when she was thirteen. The reason she continued was because the good feeling of seeing the animals finding good homes, or being rescued from abusive homes was greater than the heartache of helping euthanise 20-50 animals a day (at the heaviest days in spring and fall).

She stayed with them, and became an employee, until she was seventeen and had to quit when she broke a finger and the doctor said no work. To this day she still has issues stemming from what she dealt with there. She can't watch any of the animal cops shows on tv, she can't even watch the Purina adoption commercial without full on sobbing. The shelter provided counseling sessions, but you can't erase memories.

I think it actually takes a very caring person to do that job. To look into an animal's eyes and talk to them and tell them you are sorry and they'll be in a better place while calming them for the injection, rather than just sticking them and being done with it. Not something I would ever wish on anyone.
