Arrow I Guess the Word is Out on TBS MLB Annoucers. THEY SUCK!!

All you MLB haters take a hike. This thread is not for you. Well, maybe If you play nice.

I have not heard one person say they like the TBS announcers. While I don't pretend to be a baseball genius, I know the game very well. These boneheads wouldn't know baseball "strategery" if it bit them on the ASS!!!

I went over to TBS dot com to see where I could submit an opinion and look what I found. A BBS and lots of threads stating the same displeasure. They have repeatedly made silly statements about the pitching and baserunning calls. They even misspelled "Budweiser" on the score graphic. Mix in a spell check! They are paying you big bucks to pitch the product!

Read and enjoy! One thread was started giving "TBS props" and the first reply was "Mr. Turner? Is that you?"

Gold, I tell you. That was gold.

I think the Rockies will be hard to stop but the DBacks just keep playing their game night after night and winning as well.

Can't say how much I loved the beat down CLE put on the Spankees. Roll tribe roll. I haven't seen the Bo Sox play yet. Just highlights but Beckett looks flat-out ON!

Ahh! Playoff baseball! Love it. It also coincides with the temps here in AZ getting nice. I've had my car out 3 times this week!

Still better than Fox. Joe Buck especially. That guy grates on me like nails on a chalkboard.

The TBS guys are godawful, and the sound production is terrible. It doesn't sound like they're anywhere NEAR the game.

Not a fan of Joe Buck on any level, but I'd rather listen to someone whose voice varies even a little bit than the monotony of the TBS guys.

I agree. Except for Vin Sculley for the Dodgers.

I am sure some of the other cities have their traditional sports announcers.

God I miss Chick Hearn from the Lakers!!!

Vinny is STILL unbelieveably great. He must be like 80 now. Back in the days when he still traveled a lot he and Joe Garagiola were a terrific team. Joe was a bit annoying but played off Vinny nicely.

P.S. I have NOT gotten used to Charlie Steiner and Rick Monday mumbles and makes me want to run screaming from the room. He ACTUALLY referred to Cesar Izturis' last name as what sounded exactly like, "His Turds"

Agreed Don. It is amazing the quality of announcers we have to put up with in professional sports. Joe Buck and Tim Mc Carver make me want to puncture my ear drums with an ice pick. Then there is Pheel Simms and Dan Deardorfus, almost makes the game un-watchable. Tony Kornheiser's Man Crush on Tom Brady last monday should have had to be shown on late night TV. It was not suitable for younger viewers. GET A ROOM!

The biggest problem with announcers is they don't know when to shut up. Let us watch the game and interject only when necessary. The best team of announcers I have heard in a long time (even though I never liked them separately), are the crew on the NFL network, Bryant Gumbel and Chris Collinsworth. They just say what needs to be said. No Fluff.

These are men's sport. I don't care who was voted best dressed by some magazine. NOW SHOW ME MORE CHEERLEADER FOOTAGE DAMNIT!!!

Dan, Joe can be annoying at times. He "helps" announce some of the sunday games here. I wouldn't be heart broken if he moved from the Valley of the Sun.

Question: Is there any up and comers in this field (any sport) worth a hoot? I'm growing tired of the legacies of former announcers riding the coat tails of their fathers. Buck, the Carreys, etc.

If you could choose the announcers for the World Series, who would they be?

I really like Mark Grace. He being the DBacks TV annoucer makes him biased toward them but when there's a great play by the opponent he really hands to them. A real fan IMO.

I also really like Joe Morgan and Jim Miller. Jim has an acquired taste but I've grown past that. Its a great team. There's a TON of baseball knowledge in those guys.

Used to be you could get the streaming audio of the game coverage for the Red Sox on WEEI radio, so I'd put the TV on, kill the volume and just pipe in the streaming audio. Then of course MLB quashed that, so we're stuck with the current merry band of idjuts as your one and only option. Grr.

Beats not seeing the game at all I suppose.

Locally the Angels game coverage is pretty good (710 I think).

Yeah, the MNF crap about Tom Brady was really irritating. It portrayed the guy as more of a metrosexual pretty boy than Tony Romo and Derek Jeter combined, while nothing could be further from the truth. Brady is a heads-down hard-working player, NOTHING like what was portrayed.

The sunday night baseball team is good. I just wish they would show teams other than the New York Yankmees and the Boston Red Sox.

I know it is about money and market share, but small market teams need some love too.
